Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. is seeking a hands-on Technical Service Representative to support Electric Rope Shovel repairs at customer mine sites, primarily in Arizona and New Mexico.

You will troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and assist with major rebuilds while coordinating with Customer Supervisors and internal teams. The role requires travel to mine sites, on-site repair work, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must have strong understanding of Electrical Theory and Electrical Field.
• Proficient with computers and data analysis from monitoring devices.
• Ability to read Electrical Schematics and circuits.
• Experience with PLCs and ABB software is preferred.
• Must be able to work in a team environment and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electric rope shovel systems including electrical and mechanical issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections; report condition and time to repair.
• Develop maintenance strategies to improve safety and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Assist electricians with installations and wiring of equipment.
• Communicate needs and findings effectively to customers and internal teams.

Job Overview

We’re looking for a hands‑on, safety‑minded Technical Service Representative to support Electric Rope Shovel repairs at customer mine sites—primarily in Arizona and New Mexico. You’ll spend your days troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues on electric rope shovels, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with major capital rebuilds and overhauls. This position follows the Morenci mine schedule, and works 40 - 60 hours per week. Some days this job is on the road up to 6 days a week depending on capital projects.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Electric rope shovel troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, inspection and audit teams.
• Accurately report machine condition, repair/maintenance recommendations, time to repair/service.
• Facilitate development of maintenance strategies that promote safety, system reliability, and the reduction of unplanned down time.
• Assist electricians with installations and wiring of electric rope shovels.
• Effectively communicate to Customer Supervisors, Managers, Internal Employees, Engineering and Product Support on any customers needs.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Must be proficient at using Computers.
• Must be able to connect monitoring devices to analyze signals and interpret data that we will be gathering at any given time.
• Must be knowledgeable in Electrical Theory and in the Electrical Field.
• Prefer prior experience with PLCs, ABB software, Control Builder, Drive Windows, Drive Composer, instrumentation, AC/DC, motor controls, VFDs, Allen Bradley, motors, rectifiers, etc.
• Understand how circuits work and how to read and understand Electrical Schematics.
• Must be able to safely work in a Team Environment for the betterment of Komatsu Mining.
• Must be prepared to perform Root Cause Analysis on failures and effectively draft reports for customers, internal personnel and Product Support.
• Must have great communication skills in person, on the phone and on a computer.
