Jones-Hamilton Co. is seeking a highly skilled Technical Sales Specialist to join our Animal Nutrition & Health division. This pivotal role combines technical expertise and strategic sales support, with a primary focus on the poultry industry and secondary support in companion animals. Acting as a bridge between Sales, R&D, Technical Services, and Engineering, this position ensures the successful implementation of our nutritional solutions in the field.
You will work directly with nutritionists, veterinarians, and live production leaders to drive value, deliver technical insights, and build trusted partnerships that support animal health, performance, and operational success.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong, strategic relationships with poultry professionals, including nutritionists, veterinarians, and production managers.
- Identify high-potential leads and convert them into long-term customers through technical expertise and solution-oriented support.
- Provide in-depth consultation on diet formulation, animal nutrition, and health practices, addressing customer inquiries and challenges.
- Deliver presentations, on-farm evaluations, and training sessions to demonstrate product value and educate clients on best practices and emerging trends.
- Collaborate with Sales to support the companion animal segment as needed.
- Translate scientific data and complex research into clear, actionable insights.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on product performance and nutritional applications.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events.
- Support Key Account Managers during farm visits, offering nutritional and technical guidance.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate research and recommend future studies.
- Maintain strong relationships with academic and industry experts to position Jones-Hamilton as a thought leader in the space.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) is required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in animal nutrition, with a preference for poultry nutrition or a closely related field.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of animal nutrition, diet formulation, and livestock production systems.
- Skilled communicator, with the ability to simplify complex topics for diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and project execution.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and CRM platforms.
- Able and willing to travel up to 65%, including international trips and overnight stays.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a drug screening.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Extensive travel required (up to 65%), including domestic and international trips by car and air.
- Ability to drive long distances and navigate agricultural/farm sites.
- Capable of standing, walking, squatting, bending, pushing, pulling, and climbing as needed in farm and facility environments.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods during client meetings, site visits, presentations, and industry events.
- Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (e.g., heat, cold, rain, sunlight).
- Ability to communicate effectively in noisy environments such as farms or production facilities.
- Comfortable working in environments with potential exposure to allergens, pesticides, or agricultural chemicals (PPE may be required).
- Ability to demonstrate products and deliver presentations to clients and stakeholders in live settings.
- Proficient in using laptops, tablets, and mobile devices for communication, presentations, and data entry.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while representing the company in customer-facing settings.
