Job summary

Intek Plastics Group in Eau Claire, WI, is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to support customer quotations by gathering technical data, analyzing part and tooling requirements, and coordinating with internal teams to develop accurate, competitive quotes.

You will work with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Tooling to review RFQs, cost estimates, manufacturability factors, and process cost drivers, contributing to continuous improvement and ensuring quotes meet customer needs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret customer drawings, specifications, and CAD models.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, drawings, specifications, and CAD models to support quotation development.
• Prepare part and tooling cost estimates using cost models and procedures.
• Analyze material, labor, tooling, and secondary operation costs to support pricing.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Tooling teams for input.
• Coordinate supplier quotations for tooling, materials, and outsourced services.
• Evaluate manufacturability and identify factors impacting cost, quality, or lead times.
• Maintain quotation records and estimating databases.
• Support quote revisions from design changes or customer requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
• Serve as a technical resource for the estimating team.

About the Role

As a Technical Sales Engineer, you'll support the customer quotation and estimating process by gathering technical information, analyzing part and tooling requirements, preparing cost estimates, and coordinating with internal teams to develop accurate and competitive quotations. You'll develop expertise in materials, tooling, molding processes, and manufacturing costs while supporting sales growth and customer success.

• Review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and CAD models to support quotation development.
• Prepare part and tooling cost estimates using established costing models and procedures.
• Analyze material, labor, tooling, and secondary operation costs to support accurate pricing.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Tooling teams to gather quotation input.
• Coordinate supplier quotations for tooling, materials, and outsourced services.
• Evaluate manufacturability and identify technical factors that may impact cost, quality, or lead times.
• Maintain quotation records, estimating databases, and supporting documentation.
• Support quote revisions resulting from design changes or customer requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that enhance estimating accuracy and efficiency.
• Serve as a technical resource for the estimating team and provide backup support as needed.

What You Bring

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to interpret customer drawings, specifications, and CAD models.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred:

• Experience in plastics manufacturing, extrusion, injection molding, or related manufacturing environments.
• Experience with product costing, estimating, quoting, or manufacturing engineering.
• Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
