Job summary

AMOT Controls seeks a Technical Sales Consultant to act as a primary technical resource for the Americas. You will engage with customers, articulate product capabilities, and collaborate with Engineering and Marketing to advance opportunities. A strong mix of engineering knowledge and sales acumen is essential.

The role involves supporting proposals, evaluating application requirements, and delivering customer-focused solutions across diesel and industrial systems. Travel is expected 30–50%.

Qualifications

  • Develop expert-level knowledge of AMOT's products, applications, and technologies.
  • Understand diesel/natural gas engines, turbines, lubrication and cooling systems, and industrial process equipment.
  • Collaborate with Engineering to stay current on product improvements and roadmaps.
  • Maintain understanding of competitor products and industry trends.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for the Americas Sales organization.

Job description


  • Partner with Regional Sales Managers on customer meetings, virtual calls, site visits, and technical presentations.

  • Identifycustomer requirements and recommendappropriate AMOTsolutions.

  • Clearly communicate product capabilities, operating principles, performance characteristics, limitations, and competitive advantages.

  • Support proposal development byvalidatingtechnical scope, application requirements, and solution recommendations.

  • Identifytechnical risks and recommendappropriate solutionsto advance opportunities.

  • Support strategic sales opportunities requiring advanced technicalexpertise.

  • Assistcustomers with technical troubleshooting and application support whenappropriate.


Technical Expertise



  • Develop andmaintainexpert-level knowledge of AMOT's products, applications, and technologies.

  • Develop a strong understanding of diesel engines, natural gas engines, turbines, lubrication systems, cooling systems, thermal management, and industrial process equipment.

  • Build strong working relationships with Engineering to remain current on product improvements, new developments, and future product roadmaps.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of competitor products and industry trends.

  • Become the primary technical resource for the Americas Sales organization.


Marketing Support


Support Marketing by developing technical content that strengthens AMOT's market presence and educates customers.

CRM & Documentation


Document all customer engagements within the company's CRM systems by recording:



  • Technical meeting notesand application details

  • Customerand applicationrequirements


Internal Collaboration



  • Partner closely with Engineering, Product Management, Customer Service, Operations, and Marketing to support customer opportunities.

  • Share technical knowledge with Regional Sales Managers and other members of the sales organization.

  • Conduct internal product training and application training as needed.


Customer Focus: Develop trusted relationships by understanding customer applications,anticipatingtechnical needs, and delivering practical solutions that create confidence in AMOT's products and services.


Problem Solving: Analyze complex customer applications,identifytechnical challenges, and develop practical, customer-focused solutions through collaboration with Engineering, Product Management, and Sales.


Time Management: Effectively prioritize customer requests, proposal support, technical projects, travel, and internal responsibilities while consistently meeting deadlines andmaintainingresponsiveness.


Teamwork: Work collaboratively across Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Service, and Operations to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve businessobjectives.


Performance Metrics


Performance in this role will be evaluated using a combination of qualitative and quantitative measures. Success is based not only on technicalexpertisebut also on the ability to influence sales opportunities, support customers, collaborate across departments, and contribute to the overall success of the Americas Sales organization.


Performance metrics include, but are not limited to:



  • Participating in joint customer meetings with Regional Sales Managersutilizingthecompany’ssales process.

  • Leading technical discussions that advance sales opportunities and build customer confidence.

  • Developing technical marketing content

  • Maintainingaccurateandtimelydocumentation of customer interactionsin CRM

  • Providingtimelytechnical support to Regional Sales Managers and customers.


Education and Experience:


Required



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, ora relatedengineering discipline.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience supporting industrial equipment, rotating equipment, valves, controls, engines, turbines, power generation equipment, or process systems.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

  • Ability to confidently present technical information to engineers, operators,purchasingpersonnel, executives, and other customer stakeholders.

  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take ownership of technical development.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn complex technical products and applications with minimal supervision.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.

  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience using CRM platforms, including Pipedrive and Microsoft Dynamics 365.


Preferred



  • Experience supporting an industrial technical sales organization.

  • Knowledge of diesel engines, natural gas engines, turbines, lubrication systems, cooling systems, thermal management, and industrial process equipment.

  • Experience supporting customers within the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Marine, Rail, Mining, and Industrial Process markets.

  • Experience presenting technical training or conducting customer seminars.


Travel Requirements:



  • Ability and willingness to travelapproximately 30–50% as business needs require.

  • Must be able to travel by commercial airline andpossessthe ability to obtain andmaintainall necessary documentationrequiredfor domestic and international business travel.

  • Mustpossessand maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to travel overnight for customer meetings, trade shows, training events, and internal meetings.

They consistently document customer interactions within the CRM, contribute meaningful technical content to Marketing, support internal training initiatives, and serve as a trusted technical advisor for both customers and the sales organization. Through strong technical leadership, collaboration, and a customer-focused mindset, they help drive profitable growth and strengthen AMOT's reputation as a trusted solutions provider.
