Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a high-energy Technical Revenue Manager to join the fast-paced Technical Revenue team. You will act as a trusted advisor to Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, FP&A, Product, and GTM leadership on revenue recognition implications of non-standard deal structures.

In this role you’ll research complex ASC 606 matters, produce position papers, and support month-end close with non-routine transactions. A CPA and 5+ years in tech revenue accounting are strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, revenue operations, or finance in Technology or SaaS; 2+ years of Big 4 public accounting preferred.
  • Excellent technical and operational knowledge of ASC 606.
  • Experience with SAP, BigQuery, Tableau, and SFDC.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Act as strategic advisor to cross-functional stakeholders on revenue recognition implications of commercial strategy and deal structures.
  • Serve as the company’s ASC 606 expert for complex revenue recognition matters, including contract assessments and modifications.
  • Research and write technical revenue position papers and maintain SOX-ready documentation.
  • Support month-end close by evaluating non-routine transactions and posting accurate journal entries.
  • Support accounting systems and process improvements, particularly automation and AI-enabled workflows.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a strategic thought partner and trusted advisor to cross-functional stakeholders (Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, FP&A, Product, and GTM leadership) on revenue recognition implications of commercial strategy and deal structures.
  • Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on ASC 606 for complex revenue recognition matters, including contract assessments, non-standard deal structures, and contract modifications.
  • Research and write technical revenue position papers documenting the accounting conclusions and maintain SOX-ready documentation, owning key controls and supporting audit readiness.
  • Support month-end close by evaluating non-routine transactions, and posting accurate journal entries.
  • Support accounting systems and process improvement initiatives, particularly those related to scalability, continued company growth, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required (or equivalent military experience).
  • CPA or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in revenue accounting, revenue operations, or finance in Technology or SaaS industry; 2+ years of Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
  • Excellent technical and operational knowledge of ASC 606.
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, ability to be agile, manage priorities, and adhere to deadlines in a fast-paced environment without losing sight of accuracy.
  • Strong self-starter who operates proactively with high attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator with all levels of management within cross-functional organizations.
  • Experience with financial systems such as SAP, BigQuery, Tableau, and SFDC.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), with a high comfort level utilizing advanced analytical and productivity tools (e.g., Gemini, NotebookLM).

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/com-missioned roles) is expected to be the annual range listed below. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here. $110,000.00 - $179,500.00/yr
