Hartzell Propeller LLC is a world class engineering and manufacturing company offering the broadest range of propeller systems in the aviation industry. We design, develop, test, manufacture, and support constant-speed aluminum and composite propeller systems for all categories of aircraft, ranging from general aviation to military applications.

The company traces its history to 1914, where a relationship between Orville Wright and Robert Hartzell led to the manufacture of the first Hartzell propeller in 1917. The company was founded on the principle of "Built on Honor" – a clear and abiding value in our business.

Position Description

The responsibilities of this position are wide and varied; including: providing “help desk” support via phone and e-mail to users and servicers of HPL’s products; conducting training classes and seminars on operating, servicing, and maintaining Hartzell products; tracking field problems and working with the Product Engineering Group to develop solutions; writing and reviewing service literature; providing on-site support for operators and OEM’s; attending trade shows and visiting operators and aviation facilities to answer technical questions and perform technical audits; adjudicating warranty claims; and after-hours AOG support.

Requirements

First Year Success Factors

1. Develop a working relationship with Maintenance and OE customer base.
2. Develop thorough understanding of Hartzell product maintenance and overhaul requirements and procedures.
3. Develop an understanding and working knowledge of the warranty and service issue database.
4. Develop skills to review and create maintenance manuals and service literature.
5. Develop a working understanding of each of our products:
   1. a) Through reading and understanding the maintenance manuals and product drawings;
   2. b) By performing hands-on product assembly, tear down, and returns evaluation;
   3. c) By attending, and later assisting in, product training classes for field students;
   4. d) As they relate to specific airframe / engine types;
   5. e) By learning troubleshooting procedures for their systems.

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor of Science preferred or equivalent experience

Required Technical Competencies

1. Strong mechanical aptitude with an understanding of general aviation systems
2. Strong troubleshooting skills
3. In-depth understanding of blue print reading and drawings
4. Ability to visualize from sketches, photos and verbal descriptions
5. Knowledge and use of standard hand tools and measuring tools
6. Basic understanding of inspection methods
7. Strong technical writing skills
8. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
9. Basic understanding of Aviation vocabulary
10. Strong communication skills including the ability to present technical information
11. Basic computer skills; (Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc.)

Desired Secondary Technical Competencies

1. Strong Interest in Aviation
2. A&P Mechanic’s license.
3. Pilot’s license
4. Repair station experience
5. Inspection Authorization
