Thanks for stopping by to take a look at the Technical Project Manager / PMO Lead role I posted here on LinkedIN, I appreciate it quite a bit. If you have seen my Job Descriptions before, well...welcome back. If you are new to my job descriptions, welcome...I hope you enjoy the ride.

So, first things first. I am a real live breathing human putting this together. I know that LinkedIN and Indeed are flooded with job descriptions with a bunch of words that, essentially, say nothing. So, hopefully, you will find this process a refreshing change of pace. In addition, you will see some humor in this as well. So, if you find something that makes you chuckle, that was the intent.

As with just about every role I work on, social fit is going to be pretty important. So, here are some of those social fit criteria:

• The hiring manager for this role is relatively new to the organization. He has decided to create this role on the organization chart to really streamline and organize the project management 'process' within his org. So, in many ways, you will be mapping a path that hasn't been 'mapped' yet. So, this requires the kind of person who isn't super rigid...rather, someone who has the flexibility to accommodate change.
• I am abundantly sure there are individual reading this that have been a part of organizations where you look at Senior Leadership (like your boss) and wonder 'I'm not sure what he / she actually does...' except for perhaps showing up for vendor lunches. Well, that's not the case here. The hiring manager for this role (he is the North America IT Director for these guys) will be working very closely with you. So, I think you get what I am saying here...we need someone who can really collaborate well with senior leadership.

This role is being done onsite Monday through Friday in Raleigh, North Carolina. If you are looking to relocate, that is fine...however, no relocation money is available.

The client for this role cannot provide immigration sponsorship now or in the future. Here is what we are seeking in this role:

We are seeking someone to lead the creation of a PMO across infrastructure, support, ERP and applications. This requires someone that remains very hands on with regards to their project management duties and combine that with solid BA skills. So, if you have led requirements gathering, documentation and process flow diagramming (as opposed to delegating that) and - in tandem - led that project lifecycle management, we are on the right track with regards to what we need for this role.

Diving a little deeper into those project management skills, we are seeking that individual who can lead resource alignment, project budgeting, scoping, swim lanes and stakeholder management from project start to completion. Some of the projects you will be working on encompass ERP enhancements (these guys run Prophet 21), mobile applications, infrastructure enhancements, and cloud deployments (these guys run on Azure).

Here is what success in this role will look like, 12 to 18 months in:

• Establish a scalable PMO framework and governance model
• Improve visibility into project status, risks, and resource utilization through reporting, dashboards, and regular internal meetings
• Standardize project delivery practices across the IT organization
• Successfully deliver key projects on time and within budget
• Become a trusted partner to both business and technology leaders

Here are some of those key responsibilities:

• Help establish & scale the IT Project Management Office
• Develop project governance standards, templates & methodologies
• Build project intake, prioritization, and portfolio management processes
• Provide executive-level project reporting and visibility. You will also be attending discussions with execs as well
• Create project charters, project plans, schedules, budgets & resource plans. This also includes managing scope, timelines, risks, dependencies and stakeholder expectations
• Work on requirements, documentation and process flow diagramming
• Bridge communication between the business side of the house and the technical side of the house

Here is what we are seeking for this role (these all are gotta haves):

• At least 5-7 years of solid BA experience where you led requirements gathering, documentation, process flow diagramming, and testing.
• At least 5-7 years of Project Management experience. This should include project scoping, project budgeting, resource alignment, and stakeholder management from project inception through delivery.
• If you have started a PMO in your career, that would be ideal. If you haven't led a PMO from the ground up, but took over a PMO that wasn't functioning as well as it should have and helped rebuild it, that would be great as well.
