Job summary

ASSYST is seeking an experienced Technical Project Lead to drive data engineering and AI adoption initiatives for a client. This hybrid Austin-based role requires 2 days onsite (Wednesdays and Fridays) and 3 days remote, with residency in Texas preferred.

You will lead planning, analysis, and execution of enterprise projects, coordinating cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver technology solutions aligned with business goals. Strong communication and governance are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience leading technical projects or enterprise technology programs.
  • Proven experience managing projects within data engineering, analytics, cloud, or enterprise technology environments.
  • Experience leading data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing initiatives from planning through implementation.
  • Strong experience delivering business intelligence, big data, analytics, and enterprise data projects.
  • Experience defining project scope, objectives, timelines, milestones, budgets, and success metrics.
  • Experience managing project financials, forecasting, resource planning, and status reporting.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams, vendors, and enterprise stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and database technologies to support project planning and issue resolution.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms and enterprise technology ecosystems.
  • Experience supporting AI, advanced analytics, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC, enterprise architecture, information management, and IT processes.
  • Excellent consulting, facilitation, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong documentation and project governance experience.
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project activities involving data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, business intelligence, analytics, and cloud technologies.
  • Manage project budgeting, forecasting, financial tracking, and resource planning activities.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation including project charters, schedules, risk registers, status reports, and lessons learned.
  • Utilize project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet to manage project activities.
  • Support initiatives involving cloud platforms, enterprise applications, data pipelines, and digital transformation programs.
  • Ensure projects adhere to organizational standards, governance, compliance, security, and data management principles.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to business users, executives, and technical teams.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and proactive problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.

Job description

ASSYST is seeking an experienced Technical Project Lead to support our client in delivering strategic data engineering and AI adoption initiatives. This role is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, business analysis, project execution, and implementation of moderate to complex technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing enterprise‑level technical projects involving cloud platforms, data engineering, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives.

Working closely with technical and business stakeholders, the Project Lead will coordinate cross‑functional teams, monitor project progress, manage deliverables, and ensure successful alignment between business objectives and technology solutions. The position requires exceptional leadership, communication, organizational, and project management skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex enterprise environment.

This is a hybrid position based in Austin, TX, requiring 2 days onsite (Wednesdays and Fridays) and 3 days remote. Only candidates currently residing in Texas will be considered.

  • Experience using Jira, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet.
Certifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required. (Certification must be listed on the resume. Proof of certification may be requested.)
  • Additional certifications such as PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or equivalent are preferred.
  • TOGAF, Cloud Solution Architecture, or Azure, AWS, or GCP certifications are considered a plus.
