Job summary

Scale AI is seeking a Technical Program Manager (Homeland Layered Defense) for its Public Sector team in Washington, DC. You will own end-to-end technical execution across national security mission areas, translating workflows into PRDs/ERDs and coordinating with engineers to define scope, milestones, and architecture constraints.

Ideal candidates have TS/SCI clearance and 5+ years in technical delivery roles, with strong knowledge of software systems, APIs, data architectures, and AI/ML-enabled

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance
• 5+ years in technical program management or related technical delivery roles
• Strong literacy across software architecture, APIs, data systems, system integration, and AI/ML-enabled products
• Ability to write detailed technical and product requirements for engineering execution
• Experience driving complex technical programs across multiple teams
• Solid understanding of program management fundamentals: requirements traceability, dependencies, risks, schedules, and deliverables
• Ability to reason about data availability and software integration constraints in secure or highly regulated environments
• Comfort working inside secure facilities and air-gapped government systems
• Willingness to travel 25–50% for onsite engagements and evaluations

Responsibilities

• Own technical execution for national security mission areas from requirements to deployment and evaluation
• Translate workflows into PRDs, ERDs, and executable engineering work
• Collaborate with engineers during cycle planning to define scope, sequencing, and milestones
• Maintain end-to-end requirements traceability from customer objective to software deliverables
• Drive Jira/GitLab execution and contribute to master schedules and program planning
• Manage data availability, system architecture, and integration dependencies across high-security networks
• Identify blockers early, escalate critical risks as needed
• Coordinate with subcontractors and external teams on interfaces and handoffs
• Communicate progress, risks, and decisions to engineering teams and senior stakeholders
