Job description

Overview

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous data center design projects from detailed design through construction administration and finally closeout and handover to operations.
  • Gather internal requirements, generating potential options, presenting to the leadership team, and delivering design solutions that satisfy customers' needs.
  • Create and manage strategies for the execution of designs that leverage a standard baseline plan of record. Responsible for managing strategy for projects that require deviation from the baseline design.
  • Overcome critical tests while maintaining adherence to project timelines, quality and costs, and managing a cross-functional set of stakeholders.
Minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience managing multi-group, multi-disciplinary construction projects and designs.
Preferred qualifications
  • PE License, RA License, Chartered Engineer License or equivalent technical professional license or certification.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical fields.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience managing data center design and product development.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and design-to-construction workflows, including procurement strategy, work package development, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Experience with data center specific or equivalent equipment/environments, including switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, building controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems and an understanding of start up/commissioning processes.
