Department Description

The Corporate Finance Program Manager is part of Carlyle's Global Technology & Solutions (GTS) organization, reporting to the Principal, Finance Technology. The Finance Technology team builds and operates the technology portfolio supporting Fund Accounting, Firm Accounting, Tax & Entity Management, Treasury & Cash Management, Corporate Finance Reporting & Analytics, and AI & Process Automation. The team comprises 13+ full-time staff and ~100+ contractors across multiple domain-aligned delivery teams.

Position Summary

The Technical Program Manager is a high-impact role at the operational center of Carlyle's Corporate Services Technology. Familiarity with core accounting and finance concepts such as fund accounting, treasury and cash management, payments, and tax is a plus, as is experience with the systems that support them; a demonstrated ability to quickly build domain knowledge in new areas is equally valued. This foundation, combined with program discipline, enables the individual to translate business priorities into delivered outcomes. The ideal candidate brings finance operations fluency, a track record of driving cross-functional programs to completion, and the judgment to engage credibly with senior stakeholders. This is not an engineering role.

The candidate is expected to bring working knowledge in one or more of the following finance domains and demonstrate the ability to develop fluency across others through structured onboarding and stakeholder engagement.

Primary Responsibilities
Portfolio Operations and Program Delivery
  • Maintain portfolio-level coordination to ensure priorities are tracked and day-to-day operations are managed effectively across all workstreams
  • Keep the full portfolio organized, on track, and aligned to firm priorities across Fund Accounting, Firm Accounting, Legal Entity Management, Global Payments, Treasury & Cash Management, and Finance Reporting
  • Manage task tracking, follow-ups, and action items to ensure timely resolution across workstreams
  • Maintain portfolio-level views of status, risks, dependencies, milestones, and resource allocation
  • Coordinate across leadership, the BA team, engineering, finance stakeholders, and vendors to ensure consistent execution and accountability
  • Define and manage the domain teams' product roadmap aligned to Finance leadership priorities
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve business processes through technology, automation, and AI
  • Partner with engineering teams and finance process owners to ensure requirements are well-defined, clearly communicated, and delivered on time
Program Delivery & Agile Execution
  • Lead end-to-end delivery across multiple initiatives, ensuring timelines, scope, and quality are met
  • Foster consistent agile practices across domain teams, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Proactively identify and elevate risks, dependencies, and blockers to senior stakeholders
Accounting Systems and Business Process Design
  • Apply a working understanding of core accounting concepts (general ledger, fund accounting, AP/AR, Billing, treasury operations, financial close) to inform technology decisions and prioritize workstreams
  • Develop fluency across Carlyle's finance platforms and how they support upstream and downstream accounting processes; diagnose inefficiencies and direct practical, technology-enabled solutions delivery in partnership with engineering teams and finance process owners
  • Ensure delivered solutions align with accounting and operational requirements and are fit for long-term use by finance operations teams
Requirements
Education & Certificates
  • Concentration in accounting, finance, information systems, or a related field preferred
Professional Experience
  • 8+ years of experience in program management, product management, operations, or business analysis within financial services or enterprise technology; private equity or alternative asset management experience strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of core accounting concepts (general ledger, fund accounting, accounts payable/receivable, treasury, financial close) and experience working with accounting and finance systems
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end
  • Experience managing and mentoring Business Analysts or junior team members
  • Experience managing vendors, consultants, and external delivery partners
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget management, spend tracking, and resource planning
  • Excellent communication skills with experience developing and presenting materials to senior and executive audiences
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Demonstrated comfort with AI tools and a track record of using them to improve personal and team productivity
  • Experience with finance and accounting platforms (e.g., Investran, Geneva, PeopleSoft, Workday Financials, Anaplan, or similar) required
  • Familiarity with data and reporting tools (e.g., Snowflake, Power BI, Sigma Computing, or similar), preferred
  • Functional familiarity with finance technology platforms and the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams without being a technical practitioner
  • Experience tracking and managing technology portfolio budgets, including spend oversight, variance analysis, and resource planning
  • Experience operating in a PMO lead, program delivery, or portfolio operations capacity
  • Experience embedding AI tools and automation into team workflows and business processes
  • Ability to operate as a hands-on leader in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment
What Success Looks Like
  • Full portfolio visibility is maintained at all times: status, budget position, and delivery outcomes are current and accessible to leadership
  • Priorities are consistently tracked and driven to completion across all workstreams
  • Consistent, predictable delivery across all Finance Technology workstreams with clear ownership and accountability
  • Measurable improvements in finance workflows, including automation, cycle time reduction, and error reduction
  • Strong control of budget, vendors, and delivery outcomes
  • A well-supported, high-performing BA team with consistent standards and output quality across all domains
  • Clear, timely executive communications delivered confidently in leadership forums
  • Increased team productivity through meaningful adoption of AI-enabled workflows
  • A Finance Technology team that operates as a cohesive, high-performing unit, with clear standards, strong morale, and a shared sense of direction shaped in part by this role
