Job summary

Griffon Aerospace in Madison, Alabama seeks an Experienced UAS Product Owner to own the Group 1 FPV/quadcopter system from concept to scalable production.

You will drive requirements, coordinate airframe and RF/video subsystems, and write clear interface documents for engineers, suppliers and integration partners. A proven track record in volume production and a security-clearable background is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in UAS/product development with production experience.
  • Experience managing multi-vendor supply chain for hardware at volume.
  • Experience integrating autonomy or payload systems into a platform.
  • Knowledge of design-for-manufacturability and design-for-cost principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to write requirements and interface docs.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the product engineering for Griffon's Group 1 FPV/quadcopter systems.
  • Drive requirements, design priorities, and performance envelopes across airframe, propulsion, power, and RF/video link.
  • Write SRDs and ICDs that engineers, suppliers, and integration partners can build to.
  • Run trade studies on platform configurations, component commonality, and design-for-cost.
  • Lead design decisions to enable producibility and scaling from tens to hundreds of units.
  • Standardize components and subassemblies across quadcopter variants for production efficiency.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to move designs to low-rate and full-rate production.
  • Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers for airframes, motors, ESCs, batteries, and RF components with attention to lead times and cost.
  • Build second/multi-source strategies to maintain production during shortages.
  • Manage supplier corrective actions and ensure quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Serve as primary technical interface with external autonomy and payload providers; translate requirements for Griffon's engineers.
  • Manage interface control across autonomy stacks, payload bays, and airframe/electrical systems.
  • Perform hands-on integration testing to find and fix interface issues before field use.
  • Track program status and communicate risk and performance to leadership and customers.
