Job description

At 8090, we identify inefficiencies in enterprise operations and deliver AI-powered solutions tailored to each problem. Co‑founded and led by Chamath Palihapitiya, we're building a Software Factory that can generate complete software solutions from initial concepts, eliminating the bloated complexity and overhead of traditional software development.

The Opportunity

We are hiring an exceptional Technical Product Manager to join 8090 in a mission‑critical, customer‑centric role. Our TPMs operate as forward‑deployed product leaders, owning the full lifecycle of AI‑first enterprise solutions, from early discovery through live deployment and iteration in production environments.

Location

You will work in person from Redwood City, CA or Toronto, Canada, partnering closely with small, high‑leverage engineering teams while leading complex customer engagements inside large enterprises.

Discovery & Solution Definition

Partner with sales teams during pre‑contract discovery to identify technical risks (APIs, integrations, data requirements) and create PRD Lights that accurately scope projects. Transform ambiguous business needs into actionable requirements that guide both sales commitments and engineering delivery.

Execution Excellence

Own end‑to‑end execution under real‑world constraints, establishing governance, coordinating cross‑functional teams, and driving on‑time, high‑quality delivery. Act as the primary customer interface, managing expectations and escalations when needed from pre‑contract discovery through production deployment.

Technical and Analytical Judgement

Bring lived experience building enterprise software, ideally including non‑deterministic, data‑driven systems, to make sound architectural and product decisions. Apply analytical rigor to evaluate trade‑offs, measure outcomes, and guide teams through complexity and uncertainty.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead discovery with prospective and committed customers to identify technical risks (APIs, integrations, data availability, security constraints) and create accurate, execution‑ready PRDs.
  • Translate ambiguous business problems into concrete solution designs, including building or contributing to live POCs when needed.
  • Partner closely with engineering to validate feasibility, reduce ambiguity, and accelerate delivery.
  • Drive execution under real‑world constraints: resources, timelines, and enterprise governance.
  • Own project governance, success metrics, and delivery milestones from pre‑sales through production.
  • Serve as the primary interface with customers, facilitating discovery workshops, steering committees, and executive reviews.
  • Create and deliver tailored communications ranging from executive‑level project updates to detailed iteration plans.
  • Anticipate and surface “unforced errors” early (missing data, undocumented APIs, unrealistic assumptions) to prevent downstream delivery risk.
  • Balance speed and rigor in discovery, moving fast without compromising solution integrity.
What Sets You Apart
  • Demonstrated success delivering enterprise software solutions end‑to‑end, ideally involving AI/ML systems.
  • Ability to build and deploy solutions inside complex enterprise environments, not just design them.
  • Strong technical intuition and credibility with senior engineers.
  • Experience operating effectively with small internal teams and large, demanding customer organizations.
  • Clear, confident communicator at both executive and technical levels.
  • Domain expertise in Health and Life Sciences industries.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management with emphasis on enterprise software creation.
  • Proven ownership of the full product lifecycle, from discovery through production and iteration.
  • Strong technical background with hands‑on exposure to software systems.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with a history of impactful stakeholder management.
  • Familiarity with data science, ML concepts, and non‑deterministic systems in real deployments.

Salary (US‑based): $150,000 – $250,000 + stock and/or stock options + benefits. Compensation varies by location, experience, and skill. Full package details (medical, dental, vision, RRSP, 401K, etc.) will be provided as part of the offer.

Equal Opportunity Statement

8090 is an Equal Opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without regard to any factor, including veteran status and disability status, protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.

We do not provide new work visa sponsorship. This position is only open to candidates who are citizens, permanent residents, or are transferring an existing H‑1B, O‑1, L‑1, or TN visa.
