Great American Insurance Group is seeking a Technical Product Manager for its home office in Cincinnati, OH. You will own the underwriting systems roadmap, partner with enterprise product teams, and translate business needs into technical requirements while driving scalable, user-friendly solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of related experience in technical product management.
Lean methodologies certification preferred; Extreme Programming experience valued.
User-Centered Design certification preferred.

Develops and maintains the product roadmap for underwriting systems aligned with business goals and customer needs.
Gathers and prioritizes product requirements, translates them into technical specs and user stories.
Defines product strategy and drives long-term technical innovation, scalability and reliability.
Manages production support, incidents, defects, and continuous improvement to reduce support volume.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to optimize underwriting processes and incorporate AI where appropriate.

Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities

Develops and maintains the product roadmap for our underwriting systems, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
Collaborates with stakeholders to gather and prioritize underwriting system product requirements. Translates business needs into technical specifications and user stories.
Defines and drives product strategy by aligning business objectives with long-term technical innovation, ensuring scalability and future-proofing product decisions.
Provides ongoing production support by managing support intake, coordinating cross-functional resolution of incidents and defects, analyzing recurring issues and user feedback, driving corrective actions, and implementing process and product enhancements that improve reliability, reduce support volume, and increase underwriting efficiency.
Maps workflows, identifies bottlenecks, and collaborates with stakeholders to optimize underwriting processes, incorporating AI solutions where appropriate.
Documents and manages multiple projects concurrently, maintaining strong organization and clear visibility into progress and priorities.
May evaluate emerging technologies, architecture decisions, and integration approaches to optimize performance, security, and system compatibility.
Oversees the product development lifecycle, from concept to launch. Works with engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of features and enhancements.
May serve as the primary point of contact for product-related inquiries. Communicates product vision, strategy, and progress to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Advocates for the end-user by ensuring that products are intuitive, user-friendly, and meet high standards of quality. Conducts usability testing and gathers user feedback to inform product decisions.
Leverages technical knowledge to make informed decisions about product architecture, design, and implementation. Partners with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges.
Tracks and analyzes product performance metrics, identifies areas for improvement, and implements changes to optimize product performance.
Fosters a collaborative environment by working closely with cross-functional teams. Facilitates communication and coordination between departments to ensure successful product launches.

Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
Experience: Generally, a minimum of 3 years of related experience that includes experience in technical product management. Certification in Lean methodologies preferred, with a strong understanding of product development and development framework -- ideally Extreme Programming. User-Centered Design certification preferred.

Exhibits analytical skills with the ability to gather and analyze data to drive problem solving and decision-making. Exhibits business knowledge and the ability to identify and define business needs including an understanding of the organization's business and technology operations. Demonstrates strong customer focus by being responsive, consultative, collaborative and accurate in work approach.
