Job summary

SMS group Inc. seeks a Technical Process Engineer – Aluminum to drive market strategy and sales in North America for aluminum mill solutions, coordinating with customers and internal teams to generate opportunities and deliver technical proposals.

Engineering degree and 5+ years in aluminum mill commissioning/operations are required, with strong drawings interpretation and multi-department collaboration. Domestic/international travel will be needed.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required with experience in aluminum mill projects.
• Minimum 5 years in aluminum-related commissioning or field service.
• Strong ability to read mechanical, electrical, and fluid drawings.
• Proven track record in cross-functional collaboration with sales and operations.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
• Excellent communication with customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Drive market strategy, business planning, and sales in North America for aluminum mill solutions.
• Directly contact customers with sales and service teams to identify opportunities.
• Present technical papers at customer meetings and marketing events.
• Dialog with customers to surface issues and develop technical solutions.
• Obtain RFQs and coordinate with internal resources to prepare proposals.
• Present technical and commercial proposals to customers.
• Participate in scope and project clarification meetings with customers.
• Provide regular status updates for sales opportunities.
• Perform onsite assessments of aluminum mill equipment.
• Act as technical interface for customers on operational questions.
• Support onsite installation and supervision of aluminum mill equipment.

The Technical Sales / Process Engineer has direct contact with customers, SMS group site team, R&D, engineering, sales, service, and service centers. The Technical Sales / Process Engineer needs to have an entrepreneurial mindset, focusing on technical support, troubleshooting, enhancement and improvements

• Responsible for market strategy, business planning, and sales in North America for Aluminum mill solution
• sDirectly contacts customers with the assistance of SMS group Inc. sales and service personnel if require
• dTechnical presentation of papers at customers and marketing events to generate opportunities and market awarenes
• sCreates an open dialog with customers to seek out current issues & develop solutions utilizing SMS Group’s global technical resource
• sObtains RFQ’s and generates opportunities from customers and presents them to SMS group Inc. internal resources to be processed and assists in preparing the final technical and commercial proposal to the custome
• rTechnical and commercial presentation of proposals to perspective customer
• sParticipate in scope and project clarification meetings at perspective customer
• sProvide regular status updates for all sales opportunitie

tWhat you'll need

• Engineering degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Aluminu
• mCommissioning & field service experience is a plu
• sOperational experience is also a plu
• sStrong background in Aluminum mill equipment commissioning and operation
• sMill engineering or process experience a plu
• sMulti-disciplined aptitude with the ability to interpret mechanical, fluid, and electrical drawings and schematic
• sAbility to work with multiple departments and in a diverse team-based environment within the SMS grou
• pStrong confidence to communicate with customers, onsite subcontractors, and internal teams frequentl
• yHigh self-motivation to be proactive with ideas and problem-solving skills to serve the customer with minimum directio
