A day in this roleYou start with a quick safety walk-through and a stand-up with team leads. KPIs are on the board—safety, quality, throughput, and on-time delivery—and you help the team translate the numbers into action. You coach an emerging lead on how to balance labor across cells, then partner with Engineering on an upcoming product launch to fine-tune manufacturability. Midday, you review the schedule and inventory signals in the ERP, adjust priorities, and kick off a rapid PDCA to remove a bottleneck. Before you leave, you recognize outstanding work, align the next day’s plan, and capture ideas for the next improvement sprint. What you’ll leadDirect daily manufacturing operations across production teams and team leadsCoach and mentor employees; build bench strength and develop future leadersOwn performance for safety, quality, productivity, and on-time deliveryPlan headcount and manage production schedules and workforce allocationTrack operational metrics and turn insights into targeted improvementsChampion Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiativesLeverage ERP to support scheduling, materials flow, and process enhancementsCollaborate with Engineering on new launches, model changes, and DFM improvementsMaintain rigorous standards for product quality, inventory accuracy, and efficiencyRecruit, hire, and grow production talent aligned with our cultureWhat makes you a fitLead by example; foster trust, accountability, and teamworkEnjoy coaching, giving feedback, and helping people growSolve operational challenges with urgency and structureUnderstand manufacturing metrics and use data to drive actionExperience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodsComfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and cross-functional collaboration is essentialPreferred backgroundAssociate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience required; bachelor’s in a technical discipline preferredProven leadership experience in a manufacturing settingStrong knowledge of production scheduling, inventory control, and ERP systemsWorking knowledge of processes such as machining, welding, finishing, assembly, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumaticsSharp analytical, communication, and organizational skillsFluency with spreadsheets and data analysis tools to inform decisionsSignificant experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Quality Systems, and continuous improvementWhat success looks likeAn engaged, high-performing team; stable processes; exceptional product quality; reliable on-time delivery; and visible, measurable gains in safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
