Job summary

Accelera in Somerset, ME is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the Technical, Quality, and Environmental Departments. This role sits on the Mill Leadership Team to set mill-wide priorities and objectives.

You will oversee safety, product quality, environmental compliance, and efficiency initiatives, champion Lean Six Sigma, maintain ISO standards, and drive asset maximization and cost improvements through collaboration with marketing, procurement, and the Technology Center.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in Kraft pulp and paper / coated paper production.
• 3-5 years of upper-level management experience in pulp and paper manufacturing.
• Coating knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide mill-wide leadership across technical, product quality, and environmental functions including safety performance and cost improvement.
• Support product quality and production testing initiatives.
• Lead Lean Six Sigma training and project activities.
• Maintain ISO certification standards and environmental compliance.
• Lead asset maximization efforts.
• Lead variable cost improvement activities with technology center and procurement.
• Lead and support complex company/supplier projects and issues.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales, customers and Technology Center on product improvements.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to provide leadership in the development and management of the Technical, Quality, and Environmental Departments at our mill. This role is a key member of the Mill Leadership Team, working alongside other mill leaders to set mill-wide priorities and objectives.

What You'll Do

• Provide mill-wide leadership across all technical, product quality, and environmental functions of the operation — including safety performance, variable cost improvement, and pulp and paper manufacturing optimization
• Support product quality and production testing initiatives
• Actively support Lean Six Sigma training and project activities
• Maintain ISO certification standards and ensure mill environmental compliance
• Lead asset maximization efforts
• Lead variable cost improvement activities, including support of technology center and procurement initiatives
• Lead and support complex company/supplier projects and issues
• Collaborate closely with marketing/sales, customers, and the Technology Center on product improvement opportunities
• Lead Product Quality Management activities to improve customer satisfaction with existing products

What We\'re Looking For

Required:

• Bachelor\'s degree (Chemical Engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience
