Job summary

Listgrove Ltd seeks a Technical Manager based at our Somerset site in Massachusetts. You will lead the technical department, drive strategy and continuous improvement, and work with mill leaders to set priorities and future succession into Mill Manager.

The ideal candidate has engineering training, significant pulp and paper manufacturing experience (coated paper a plus), proven leadership, and a track record with Lean Six Sigma or TPM.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a manufacturing setting.

Technical Manager

Based in Somerset - Massachusetts

Description

The Technical Manager provides leadership in the development and management of the Somerset mill. Being a key part of the leadership team working alongside other mill leaders in setting mill-wide priorities and objectives, in time this person will progress into Mill Manager taking over from the current incumbent.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership across the technical department in the mill.
  • Contribute to mill-wide strategy, priorities and business planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Support development of teams through coaching, training and succession planning.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead initiatives to improve safety, product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Drive variable cost reduction and asset optimisation programs.
  • Champion Lean, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Oversee root-cause analysis, data-driven problem solving and performance tracking.
Technical & Quality Management
  • Ensure product quality management systems meet customer expectations.
  • Lead production testing, process optimisation and implementation of new technologies.
  • Maintain ISO standards and ensure compliance with all quality systems.
Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Work proactively with regulatory bodies.
  • Lead environmental performance initiatives and sustainability efforts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with operations, procurement, sales and external stakeholders to achieve operational and business goals.
  • Strong leadership and people management capability.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and engagement skills.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience in Lean/Six Sigma or similar.
The Person
  • Degree educated in Engineering Principles.
  • Significant experience in pulp and paper manufacturing, (Coated paper experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM).
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Commitment to safety, sustainability, and operational excellence.
