Job summary

Stellantis NV in Auburn, Alabama seeks a senior engineering leader to manage platform content, BOM management, and cross-functional design activities for vehicle platforms. You will drive technical development, design reviews, and ensure timing and cost targets are met.

The role requires coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering, Top Hats, and Advanced Engineering to align design, cost and quality objectives while meeting regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 8 years of Automotive Industry experience.
• Experience in vehicle/component design/release engineering, cost analysis and program management.
• Experience with NVH, Durability, Safety.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Able to manage change and present ideas to management at all levels.
• MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Able to motivate and lead people who do not report directly to you.

Responsibilities

• Managing the technical content, definition and configuration of the Platform including BOM Management.
• Leading the technical activity of component and system development.
• Coordinating with Manufacturing Engineering and the plant to align design with cost, investment and quality.
• Managing the technical relationship with Top Hats, other Platforms, and Advanced Engineering.

Job description

Managing the technical content, definition and configuration of the Platform including:

• BOM Management for the Platform including Change Management


• Technical data and VISBOM content


• Platform diversity and component interchangeability


• Achieving Quality, Cost, Timing, and Performance Objectives


• Coordinates with purchasing for RFQ, supplier selection, and change management


• Support regional requirements and content

Leading the technical activity of component and system development:

• Design, development, and validation of component and systems


• Leads decision / stakeholder meetings at the platform level


• Design freeze and tooling kick off


• Conformity of regulatory requirements


• Coordination of technical teams

Coordinating activities with Manufacturing Engineering and the plant:

• Alignment of design and manufacturing process to support cost, investment, and quality objectives


• Compatibility of product and process


• Packaging issues and requirements with logistics


• Make buy convergence

Managing the technical relationship with Top Hats, other Platforms, and Advanced Engineering:

• Confirm platform supports Top Hat requirements and future product requirements

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree field


• 8 years of Automotive Industry experience


• Experience in vehicle / component design / release engineering, vehicle finance cost, program management, and / or component cost analysis


• Experience with NVH, Durability, Safety


• Excellent leadership communications / people skills

• Design and Development of components/systems associated with Chassis, Propulsion, or Body through a full project cycle.


• Understanding of vehicle construction by systems (Body, Chassis, Powertrain, Interior, etc) and subsystems (Underbody, suspension, trim, cooling, HVAC, etc.).


• Understand part break up of vehicles and how they are assembled.


• Ability to identify and organize technical commodities into their functional purpose.


• Identify and propose design alternatives to meet and exceed aggressive cost targets
