Job summary

TerraPower LLC. in Bellevue, WA seeks a Technical Lead, Mechanical Engineering Analysis to guide the mechanical performance assessment of reactor structures and nuclear island components.

This leadership role reports to the Structural and Stress Analysis Team Manager and sits within a high-functioning team driving next-generation reactor design. The candidate will oversee stress, creep-fatigue, buckling, seismic and vibration analyses using ABAQUS/ANSYS, collaborate across engineering

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university; aerospace and civil degrees considered.
• Minimum 8 years of mechanical analysis experience with BS, or 8+ years with MS/PhD with demonstrated high-quality work.
• Minimum 2 years coordinating technical project teams and meeting goals.
• Experience interfacing with other engineering disciplines.
• Proficient in finite element stress analysis and mechanical analysis methods; ABAQUS or ANSYS experience required.
• Experience in ASME Boiler/Pressure Vessel Code Section III and other ASME codes.
• Strong fundamentals in solid mechanics, fracture mechanics and metal fatigue.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical analyses of reactor structures, systems and nuclear island components.
• Perform stress, creep-fatigue, buckling, seismic and vibration analyses using FEA tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on static and dynamic analyses (linear and nonlinear).
• Establish, review and maintain analysis documents and design solutions.
• Direct inputs and methodologies to size structural components and load combinations.
• Provide technical mentorship and supervise high-quality work packages.
• Identify activities for design, analysis and verification of reactor structures.
• Participate in strategy, budget, goals and team performance discussions.
