Role Description
This is a full-time, remote role for a Technical Lead, Data Governance at MULU Corp. The Technical Lead will be responsible for troubleshooting, providing technical support, managing information technology, delivering customer service, and conducting training. They will be a key leader within the client's organization, which is responsible for one of the most comprehensive health data ecosystems in the world. Success in this role looks like ensuring that all platform data is well-governed, high quality, and aligned with mission needs, enabling trust and usability at scale across the Department of Defense (DoD).
Role Responsibilities
Strategically lead technical data governance implementation across the enterprise:
- Develop and guide the implementation of the client's data governance strategy, ensuring alignment with Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBoK) principles and mission needs
- Oversee the development and drive the adoption of scalable data governance frameworks, policies, and standards in alignment with enterprise architecture and mission needs
- Lead a team of 8-10 contractors responsible for executing data governance initiatives across data cataloging, data policy, and data quality
- Provide coaching, prioritization, and operational oversight, including setting goals, tracking progress, and coordinating delivery timelines
- Serve as the primary point of coordination between the team and client leadership, escalating risks and enabling informed decision-making
Role Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or related technical discipline
- 10+ years’ experience in data governance, enterprise data architecture, or data strategy execution within large-scale government or healthcare environments
- Expert-level knowledge of DoD data governance policies, metadata standards, and frameworks
- Hands-on experience with tools such as Talend Data Catalog, AWS, Apache Hive, Oracle Databases, or other metadata/data quality platforms
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor cross-functional technical teams, including within matrixed or contract-heavy environments
- US Citizen; must be located in the US and eligible for DoD clearance

- Cross-functional Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills; able to align stakeholders with varying priorities across the program management office and security, data engineering, and federal oversight bodies
- Innovation Mindset: Proactively seeks opportunities to enhance performance through emerging technologies and streamlined methodologies
- Communication Excellence: Executive-level writing, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills; capable of distilling complexity into clear insights
- Integrity & Discretion: Trusted to handle sensitive data and high-stakes decisions with sound judgment and confidentiality
