Job summary

Winston Fox, a technology-driven hedge fund, seeks a senior Cloud Platform Engineer to shape a cloud-first, hybrid infrastructure and drive platform evolution. This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership, visibility, and impact on software and systems used across the firm.

Based in New York, you will work five days onsite with a small, high-calibre team to design scalable and secure cloud solutions, set engineering standards, and lead technically on complex infrastructure initiatives.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years’ experience designing and engineering cloud infrastructure in production.
• Expertise across AWS, Azure, Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, IAM and security.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and IaC.
• Ability to lead technical initiatives and work with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and passion for automation.

• Lead the delivery of cloud-native platforms using Infrastructure-as-Code, automation and modern engineering practices.
• Architect Kubernetes-based container platforms, microservices infrastructure and cloud-native application environments.

• Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and influence platform strategy through thoughtful technical leadership.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external MSPs to deliver complex infrastructure initiatives while maintaining exceptionally high engineering standards.
• Define technical standards, architecture patterns and reusable infrastructure that enable the business to scale efficiently.

Help build the cloud platform behind one of the fastest-growing hedge funds in the industry.

Our client is a technology-driven, multi-strategy hedge fund managing more than $10 billion in AUM, with ambitious growth plans and a modern cloud-first, hybrid infrastructure strategy.

As only the third engineer joining the Cloud & SRE function, this is a rare opportunity to become a technical leader within a small, high-calibre team responsible for shaping the firm's cloud platform and engineering standards. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership, influence and visibility across the business.

Unlike many infrastructure roles, you won't spend your time delivering repetitive BAU work. The firm's managed service providers own the operational heavy lifting, allowing the internal engineering team to focus on architecture, automation, platform evolution and the technically challenging initiatives that create long-term business value.

• You'll partner directly with Engineering, Security, Investment Technology and business stakeholders to design, build and continuously evolve a highly automated cloud platform supporting a rapidly growing global investment firm.
• You'll be expected to lead technically—driving architectural decisions, championing engineering best practices, introducing new technologies where appropriate, and delivering cloud platforms that are scalable, secure and built to last.

We're Looking For Engineers Who Have

• 5-10+ years' experience designing and engineering cloud infrastructure within demanding production environments.
• Deep expertise across AWS, Azure, Terraform, Ansible, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong programming and automation skills using Python, PowerShell and/or Bash.
• A solid understanding of cloud networking, Kubernetes architecture, security, IAM and modern infrastructure design.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and applying DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code
• The confidence to lead technical initiatives, influence architectural direction and work directly with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for engineering excellence, automation and continuous improvement.
