The Cisco’s AI team consists of AI researchers and software developers who collaborate to build innovative products and platforms for Cisco. We are motivated by tackling unique challenges that arise when connecting people and devices at a worldwide scale.

Who You’ll Work With

You will join a newly formed, dynamic AI team as a core member, with the opportunity to influence its culture and direction. Our team includes AI and distributed system experts working alongside product managers and engineers across various Cisco teams.

We are seeking a Software Engineer Technical Leader for our AI Assistants Team. In this role, you will integrate AI services for our Generative AI Assistant products, focusing on understanding service operations, designing effective interfaces, and implementing instrumentation to ensure seamless, secure, and reliable service integration.

What You Will Do

As a Technical Lead and Backend Engineer, you will:

1. Provide technical leadership, guiding design and implementation for reusability, security, reliability, and performance.
2. Collaborate on designing complex systems of ML and non-ML services that meet security, performance, reliability, and scalability standards.
3. Work with teams to understand AI service operations and integrate them into our products.
4. Design interfaces between AI services, ensuring efficient communication and data exchange.
5. Implement instrumentation for monitoring performance, reliability, and security.
6. Debug integration issues and optimize service interactions.
7. Tune performance to ensure efficient operation of AI services.
8. Create documentation for integration processes, interfaces, and instrumentation.
9. Coordinate with AI engineers, data scientists, and security teams for smooth integration.
10. Ensure compliance with security standards and work with security teams on necessary measures.

Basic Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer with expertise in integrating complex services.
• 8+ years of coding experience in Python, Java, or Go.
• BA/BS degree with 10+ years of experience or MS degree with 8+ years of experience as a software development engineer.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in AI service operations, including Generative AI, and designing interfaces between them.
• Knowledge of GenAI frameworks and orchestrators like LangChain, Llamalndex, Semantic Kernel, or AutoGen.
• Solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with instrumentation and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of compliance standards.
