A leading company is seeking a Senior Staff Backend Engineer to join their high-impact engineering team. This role involves architecting and leading the development of scalable backend systems, mentoring engineers, and driving technical decisions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in backend development, distributed systems, and cloud platforms, contributing to mission-critical infrastructure that supports the company's core products.
DORA is building the next generation of bond markets through a cutting-edge API-driven protocol. By integrating advanced Web3 primitives with sophisticated mathematical models for debt markets, DORA enables 24/7 liquidity, full transparency, and sub-millisecond transaction latency for bond trading. The protocol is fully compatible with tokenized assets (RWA’s), next-gen stablecoins, and all forms of fixed income.
Our partners include HFT quant firms, Algo traders, macro funds, institutional trading desks, and global asset managers. DORA is backed by some of the largest digital asset firms, Wall Street banks, and hedge funds.
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Staff Backend Engineer / Backend Engineering Lead to join our high-impact engineering team. This role is for a deeply technical leader who can drive architectural decisions, mentor top-tier talent, and build scalable, high-performance backend systems that serve as the backbone of our core products.
You’ll own mission-critical infrastructure, distributed systems, and services that support massive scale and reliability. As a senior technical authority, your decisions and code will have a direct and lasting impact on the company's technology and millions of users worldwide.
● Architect, design, and lead the development of robust, scalable backend services and infrastructure.
● Drive technical direction and decision-making across projects, ensuring high availability, performance, and maintainability.
● Own end-to-end systems: from planning and design through deployment and operations.
● Lead technical deep-dives, mentor engineers across teams, and elevate engineering standards through code reviews and architectural discussions.
● Optimize backend performance across data stores, cache layers, and messaging systems for ultra-low latency and high throughput.
● Champion observability, monitoring, and resilience in production environments.
● Partner closely with cross-functional leads—including product, frontend, and infrastructure—to align technical strategies with business goals.
● 10+ years of backend development experience, with a track record of building and scaling mission-critical systems.
● Expertise in one or more backend languages (Go, C++, Java, Rust) and a deep command of modern software architecture.
● Profound understanding of distributed systems, microservices, concurrency, and network architecture.
● Experience designing high-performance, low-latency backend infrastructure capable of handling complex workflows at scale.
● Mastery of data systems—relational, NoSQL, caching, and message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)—and how to apply them effectively.
● Strong foundation in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
● Demonstrated leadership in driving initiatives, mentoring engineers, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.
● Deep problem-solving ability, engineering intuition, and a passion for clean, impactful code.
● Experience leading engineering efforts in high-growth startups or elite tech companies.
● Prior work on real-time systems, large-scale data infrastructure, or fintech platforms.
● Familiarity with algo trading, high-frequency trading, or fixed income platforms. ● Background in applied mathematics, quantitative modeling, or computer science research.
