About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer - Technical Lead to join our team in Stuart, FL. In this role, the Technical Lead provides expert judgment, analysis and direction to the business unit technical team for the development and implementation of processes required for the successful cost-effective manufacture of technical products that meet all customer quality requirements. The Technical Leader relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals while directing the efforts of the business unit Engineering staff; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities
  • Resolve highly complex technical issues and conduct research as required
  • Recommend alterations to product development and design (concurrent engineering) to improve quality of products, process or procedure to enhance production
  • Provide the required direction and leadership to the team as necessary in order to create, develop and perfect manufacturing processes which are cost effective and conducive to ease of manufacture
  • Provide oversight, input and direction to ensure that manufacturing process direction, tooling and design meet or exceed all internal program goals (ease of manufacture and profitability) as well as all customer requirements (quality and delivery)
  • Direct and monitor the technical activities of assigned Product and Process Engineers. Review and approve manufacturing processes as required
  • Full responsibility for all new product technical requirements/issues including concurrent engineering interface with the customer to facilitate design/process changes which aid production and lower cost
  • Conduct process improvements by leading Six Sigma projects, design of experiments and design review events for continuous improvement in manufacturing process efficiency driving reduction in product lead/cycle time to improve profitability
  • Investigate and recommend machine tool and equipment needs to accomplish or improve the required manufacturing process capabilities or capacity.
  • Identify related processing and manufacturing problems and identify/initiate corrective actions as required. Provide technical direction and leadership in recommending changes in design, specifications, drawings and procedures that will eliminate manufacturing problems and improve production rates while reducing scrap and rework related costs and lead time
  • Visit suppliers to assure that the supplier manufacturing process meets or exceeds all internal and external requirements on delivery and quality
  • Assure that the supplier manufacturing process will produce technical product in the required quantity in accordance with product delivery schedule
  • Manage the customer relations to handle concurrent engineering required and communicate cost and delivery pertaining to the respective product
  • Oversee and lead product and key characteristic audits as required by our customers
  • Assist in training production staff as needed
  • Evaluate, train and coach all Product Process Engineers while fostering a team environment
  • Must support all EH&S requirements within the facility and improve ergonomics of associated tooling relative to process
  • Lead investigations relating to customer quality concerns and product escapes
  • Maintain awareness of technology improvements
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on business unit need
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or manufacturing engineering
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing or aerospace machining environment
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time bases without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Proficiency in CNC machining, programming, and set up.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and aerospace standards.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software- preferably Siemens NX
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent communication skills and project management skills.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Customer service skills with an established bias for action in a team environment required
  • Proven awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions required
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safety practices and recognize hazards required. Must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Demonstrated ability to meet attendance standards as defined in company policies required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Engineering Software Programs
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma theories and practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of product costing
