Job summary

Pursuit Aerospace in South Windsor, CT seeks a seasoned Shift Manufacturing Supervisor to lead a precision machining team, optimize equipment usage, and assure on-time delivery while meeting quality standards. You will mentor staff, implement Kaizen improvements, and coordinate with engineering, materials, and quality to drive continuous manufacturing excellence on site.

Qualifications

• 3 years of manufacturing supervision or leadership experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate work of assigned employees, manage time to prioritize manufacturing of parts and equipment utilization.
• Maintain product quality and adhere to customer requirements and internal quality system; apply continuous improvement and Kaizen principles.
• Mentor employees and share knowledge; maintain a neat and orderly work area.
• Plan, commit, and execute area to meet or exceed weekly, monthly, and yearly shipping targets.
• Coach and guide staff to promote positive employee relations.
• Promote a safe work environment and ensure policy adherence.
• Collaborate with engineers, materials, quality control, and other team members across the business.
• Communicate with leadership and production teams on productivity and on‑time delivery; manage shift hand‑offs.
• Lead and participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement workshops.

About The Opportunity

Manage shift manufacturing operations for a precision machining facility. Supervise and plan work for assigned employees to optimize equipment for maximum productivity. Drive all operational activities to achieve on‑time delivery while meeting all quality assurance requirements. Manage team members by establishing effective lines of communication and provide change leadership within the business.

Location

South Windsor, CT. This position is 100% on site.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate work of assigned employees, manage time to prioritize manufacturing of parts and equipment utilization.
• Maintain product quality and adhere to all quality standards established by customer requirements and the internal quality system; improve processes using continuous improvement and Kaizen principles.
• Share knowledge willingly and mentor employees.
• Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
• Plan, commit, and execute area to meet or exceed weekly, monthly, and yearly shipping targets.
• Coach, guide, manage, and mentor employees to promote positive employee relations.
• Promote a safe work environment, adhering to all company policies and procedures, and drive policy adherence with indirect and direct staff.
• Collaborate with business unit leaders, engineers, materials, quality control, and assigned team members at all levels of the business.
• Communicate with leadership, planning, and other production employees continuously on all matters impacting productivity or on‑time delivery, including shift hand‑off needs.
• Facilitate on‑the‑job training and cross training through work assignments and mentoring to provide learning opportunities and maximum equipment use.
• Lead and participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement workshops within the site and across Pursuit where feasible.
• Review purchase requests and submit to manager for approval.
• Provide regular performance feedback and complete performance reviews for assigned employees.
• Other job‑related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of manufacturing supervision or leadership experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full‑time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship.
• Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5 years of manufacturing supervision or leadership experience.
• Experience manufacturing parts to demanding quality requirements and specifications.
• Experience manufacturing tubes or running/maintenance of waterjets.
• Ability to manage across multiple levels of the organization and lead efforts when needed.

Physical Requirements

• Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using personal protective equipment.
• Must be able to frequently sit, stand, and walk.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
• Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor.
• Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
