Job summary

CSL in Knoxville is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to support screening, testing and quality control in a blood products environment.

The role requires an Associate's degree in medical laboratory science and Tennessee MLT designation, with 2+ years of lab experience preferred and strong computer skills to manage data and instruments. You will operate lab equipment, follow SOPs, and participate in ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher in medical laboratory science or related field.
• MTL designation as required by Tennessee state law.
• 2+ years of relevant lab experience preferred.
• Above-average computer skills and familiarity with lab software.

Responsibilities

• Perform screening and controlling procedures for materials used in processing and distribution of blood products.
• Independently carry out unit/donor suitability testing and other assays.
• Conduct routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods; compare results to controls.
• Participate in continuing education activities.
• Complete maintenance and quality control per SOPs.
• Operate analytical instrumentation and perform routine instrument maintenance.
• Follow cGMP guidelines and comply with regulatory standards in the lab.
• Adhere to safety, health, environmental rules and SOPs.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, performs procedures for screening and controlling material used in the processing, manufacture and distribution of blood and plasma products
• Independently performs lab procedures related to unit and/or donor suitability testing and other assays
• Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and procedures; analyzes test results against set controls
• Participates in continuing education
• Completes maintenance and Quality Control (QC) per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Operates analytical instrumentation and technical laboratory equipment; performs routine maintenance of instruments and equipment
• Works within current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the lab
• Follows safety regulations, Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) rules, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or associated field required
• Medical Lab Technician (MLT) designation as required by the State of Tennessee
• 2+ years' relevant lab experience preferred or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education
• Above average computer skills required
