Planet Pharma seeks a laboratory technician to independently perform, interpret, and troubleshoot procedures related to unit and donor testing in a plasma testing lab in Knoxville. You will handle routine analytical testing with manual and automated methods, analyze results, complete QC tasks, and maintain safety standards as part of a fast-paced team.

The role requires an associate degree in lab science with possible TN licensure; 2 years of related experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
  • Licensure in Tennessee preferred but not required.
  • 2 years related experience preferred but not required; recent graduates ok.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

Responsibilities:
  • Independently performs, interprets and troubleshoots laboratory procedures related to unit and/or donor suitability testing and other assays as required. Develops proficiency in laboratory information systems and workflow of samples.
  • Performs routine analytical testing using manual and automated methods and procedures. Analyzes test results against set controls.
  • Completes maintenance and Quality Control (QC) per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Works within the current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Lab.
  • Shares information with internal contacts with common desire to reach a solution.
  • Follows all safety regulations, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and rules. Maintains a clean, safe work environment.
  • Operates analytical instrumentation and technical laboratory equipment. Performs and documents troubleshooting and calibration of instructions. Performs and documents routine preventative maintenance of assigned instruments and equipment according to established schedule and procedure. Notifies Supervisor of unresolved instrument issues.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned, including training in multiple departments.

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Could perform tasks while standing or walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, kneel, squat, push and have a high level of manual dexterity
  • Potentially exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures and blood borne pathogens
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment
  • Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions
  • No cell phone usage permitted while inside lab
Requirements:
  • Must have Associate degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Requires intermediate to strong computer skills
  • Able to communicate effectively within the department and with other lab departments
  • Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) licensure in the State of Tennessee preferred but not required
  • 2 years of related experience preferred but not required (recent graduates ok)
Interview Process:
  • 1-2 rounds of 30-45 minute interviews with Hiring Manager and/or Team Member.
  • Interviews will be onsite at Plasma testing lab: 1001 Corridor Park Blvd; Knoxville, TN 37932.
  • Candidates should arrive dressed for lab safety (long pants, close-toe shoes, jeans without holes ok, scrubs ok but not required, no leggings). Any required PPE will be provided onsite.
