Job description

Title - Technical Lab - Lab Assistant - 1st shift
Location - Irving, TX
Duration - 4 months + extendable
Shift/Time Zone: Tuesday - Saturday 7:00am to 3:30pm CST

Job Description:

OB SUMMARY:

  • Perform daily activities as described below. Basic Purpose:
  • Perform various routine laboratory functions accurately to assist laboratory staff and facilitate production.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sorting and receiving specimens.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance.
  • Handle laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, recording data, specimen storage and retrieval.
  • Prepare reagents and media.
  • Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting, checking for clots, inoculation, slide preparation.
  • Perform QA/QC duties as assigned.
  • Resolve pending lists and find missing samples.
  • Decontaminate work areas and perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
  • Maintain departmental records and change gas cylinders.
  • Follow PPE and safety regulations.
  • Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs.
  • Dispose of biohazardous materials.
  • Complete training and competency checklists.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant training helpful; math and science courses preferred.
Work Experience:

None required.

Special Requirements:
  • Ability to establish work priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to retain information learned.
  • Interact courteously and respectfully with coworkers and customers.
Additional Job Details:
  • Dayshift position: Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.
