Job summary

SciTec, a non-traditional defense contractor and subsidiary of Firefly Aerospace, seeks a Technical Infrastructure SME in Boulder, CO. You will lead the infrastructure team, deploy private clouds, and guide global, cross-time-zone efforts across multiple environments to meet DoD standards and mission-critical requirements.

You will mentor engineers, drive security and disaster-recovery measures, and ensure robust, scalable networks and services while maintaining thorough documentation for ATO

Qualifications

• 5+ years actively developing and/or managing virtual technologies including VMware, Linux, OpenShift, Kubernetes and Docker.
• 3+ years of management experience and 10+ years of total professional experience.
• Experience leading distributed multi-timezone teams and cloud-native architectures (Microservices, security, compliance).
• Strong foundation in microservices and software design for cloud environments.
• Active DoD security clearance or eligibility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy functional networks and private cloud platforms (LAN, WAN, on prem compute) as part of product and infra teams.
• Resolve issues escalated by lower service desk tiers through troubleshooting deployed, cloud, and local infrastructure.
• Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness; mentor team members on technical issues.
• Create, oversee, and test security measures including access authentication and disaster recovery.
• Communicate with users to design and field optimal solutions; design scalable solutions for network performance and capacity.
• Maintain complete technical documentation to support Authorization To Operate (ATO) packages.
• Other duties as assigned.

SciTec has an immediate opening for a Technical Infrastructure SME to work with the Infrastructure team lead and build and mentor the team responsible for global configuration management and task execution across multiple locations and compliance environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and deploy functional networks and private cloud platforms (LAN, WAN, on prem compute) as a member of product teams and corporate infrastructure teams supporting custom applications and DevOps processes
• Resolve issues escalated by lower service desk tiers by troubleshooting deployed, cloud, and local infrastructure
• Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
• Mentor team members on technical issues
• Create, oversee, and test security measures (e.g., access authentication and disaster recovery)
• Communicate with users to design and field optimal solutions
• Design and implement solutions to deliver superior network performance, capacity and scalability
• Maintain complete technical documentation in support of Authorization To Operate (ATO) packages
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 5+ years actively developing and/or managing virtual technologies including VMWare, Linux, OpenShift, Kubernetes and Docker
• 3+ years of management experience and 10+ years of total professional experience
• Demonstrable foundation in microservices, software design for cloud
• Experience leading distributed multi-disciplined teams across different time zones
• Experience leading teams for cloud-native architectures (Microservices, security, compliance, etc.) at scale
• Experience managing teams of 5-10 people with measurable team and product success
• Technical leadership and management experience in IT infrastructure engineering and DevOps environments
• Excellent organizational and mentoring skills
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
• Detail oriented
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Candidates meeting the following criteria will be preferred
• An active DoD security clearance
• Security+ Certification
• Linux, VMWare, Openshift, Kubernetes Certifications

The pay range for this position is $150,000 – $195,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
