Job summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. is hiring an entry-level Mechanical Field Advisor I to support mechanical installations on large EPC projects, including gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators.

You will provide hands-on technical support on-site, promote safety, ensure first-time quality, and help manage complex activities from construction through commissioning. The role requires 12–18 months on-site assignments, travel both domestically and internationally, and a strong ability to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred, or equivalent power plant construction experience.
• 2+ years of progressive mechanical field experience supporting large EPC power projects; experience with Mitsubishi Power or comparable OEM GTCC installations preferred.
• OSHA 10-hour training preferred but not required.
• Strong technical comprehension and communication skills, with the ability to interpret procedures, regulations, technical documentation, and drawings, and prepare clear reports and correspondence.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally and work full-time at project sites for extended assignments of 12–18 months; valid driver’s license and passport required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the site-level Mechanical Technical Field Advisor (TFA) for Mitsubishi Power equipment, providing hands-on technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Champion safety, equipment protection, and first-time quality, including JHAs, hazard controls, hold points, and intervention when work practices create risk.
• Support planning and execution of high-risk and complex activities, including critical lifts, sensitive installations, and schedule-critical work.
• Partner with EPC and site teams to ensure compliance with safety, quality, installation, and project requirements while resolving field issues.
• Identify and resolve technical and equipment deficiencies, particularly issues affecting schedule, equipment integrity, cost, or warranty exposure.
• Manage and support Project Action Requests (PARs), coordinating responsible parties, escalating issues as needed, and driving timely closure.
• Support timely completion of erection packages, check sheets, mechanical completion walkdowns, punch lists, and required field documentation/sign-offs.
• Maintain a strong field presence, prepare daily activity reports, identify emerging risks, capture lessons learned, and recommend corrective actions to prevent rework and support safe, high-quality, on-schedule execution.

Role Overview

The Mechanical Technical Field Advisor I is entry level supporting complex mechanical installations—including gas turbines, steam turbines, large frame generators, and auxiliary equipment—while actively mitigating risk to personnel, equipment, schedule, and cost. Key expectations include supporting injury prevention, fostering a positive site culture, and driving first‑time quality to prevent rework.
