Job summary

OST, Inc. is seeking a Technical Engineer Journeyman in Orlando, FL to support the design, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment of Army training systems (TADSS).

The role requires hands-on engineering insight and coordination with engineering, acquisition, and program teams to meet training objectives. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of relevant DoD-related experience, a engineering degree, and an Active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years supporting engineering or technical activities within a DoD, Federal, or defense training environment.
  • Experience with technical analysis and system support is required.
  • Experience with integration or test support for training systems or TADSS.
  • Experience with technical documentation and reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical discipline.
  • Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering analyses of TADSS capabilities and assist with requirements and documentation.
  • Support system integration activities across hardware, software, networks, and training enablers.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and risk resolution.
  • Assist with test and evaluation activities, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, acquisition analysts, logisticians, and leadership to ensure effective training outcomes.

Technical Engineer Journeyman
Job Description
  • The Technical Engineer JNY provides engineering and technical execution support to the design, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainment of Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS). The individual applies technical expertise to ensure systems meet operational training requirements, technical specifications, and lifecycle performance objectives.
  • Responsibilities include supporting engineering analyses of TADSS capabilities; assisting with development and review of technical requirements, specifications, interface control documents, and system documentation; and supporting system integration activities across hardware, software, networks, and training enablers. The Technical Engineer participates in technical interchange meetings, design reviews, and working groups to identify risks, resolve issues, and ensure technical alignment with objectives.
  • Additional duties include supporting test and evaluation activities; assisting with data collection, analysis, and reporting; supporting configuration and change management activities; and contributing to development of technical reports, briefings, and acquisition artifacts. The role collaborates closely with systems engineers, test engineers, military doctrine analysts, acquisition analysts, logisticians, and leadership to ensure technical solutions effectively support Army training outcomes.
  • The Technical Engineer provides practical, hands-on engineering insight and recommendations to improve system performance, interoperability, maintainability, and training effectiveness across portfolios.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting engineering or technical activities within a DoD, Federal, or defense training environment
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • Technical analysis and system support
  • Integration or test support for training systems or TADSS
  • Technical documentation and reporting
  • Coordination with engineering, acquisition, and program teams Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline
  • Active Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications
  • TADSS development, integration, or sustainment
  • Systems engineering lifecycle processes
  • Test & Evaluation support for training systems
  • Prior military or Army training systems experience

This is a full-time position paying a base salary of $95,000 - 100,000, and full benefits, and has possible bonus potential based on merit and performance.
