Job summary

Micro Precision Group, Inc. in Connecticut is seeking a Design Engineer to join a precision manufacturing environment that supports national defense.

You will review customer orders, interpret technical requirements, and develop parts and assemblies with SolidWorks. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work across Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure on-time, compliant deliverables.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship is required per DoD requirements.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering preferred; A.S. degree and work experience considered in lieu of B.S.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with SolidWorks software.
• Experience reviewing technical documents and customer prints.
• Experience with ISO9001 or other Quality Management Systems.
• Experience with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret customer purchase orders and contracts for technical requirements.
• Condense large amounts of technical information from various sources into easy-to-interpret instructions and drawings.
• Create parts and assembly models and drawings in SolidWorks.
• Maintain ECR and ECN systems.
• Prepare setup sheets and work instructions for machining, assembly, and test.
• Support Production and Quality in meeting manufacturing timelines.
• Engage in optimization and continuous improvement efforts on processes.

We are always looking for qualified individuals to join our team at Micro Precision, which prides itself on offering excellent customer service, attention to detail, and support for national defense in a manufacturing environment. We are currently looking for a Design Engineer to join our team.

Required Qualifications:

• US Citizenship is required per DoD requirements.
• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• A.S. degree and work experience considered in leu of B.S.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with SolidWorks software.
• Experience reviewing technical documents and customer prints
• Experience with technical and information flow-down
• Experience with a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, high-temperature alloys, Inconel, titanium, nickel, etc.
• Experience in machining, assembly, and testing is a plus.
• Lean Manufacturing certification and experience desirable
• Experience with ISO9001 and/or other Quality Management Systems.
• Experience with ERP systems.
• Ability to work across the organization to identify and resolve issues.
• Positive attitude with continuous improvement mentality.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Review and interpret customer purchase orders and contracts for technical requirements
• In-depth research of technical requirements and their application to contracts
• Condense large amounts of technical information from various sources into easy-to-interpret instructions and drawings.
• Become an SME for hydraulic systems.
• Maintain technical flow-down in routings
• Create parts and assembly models and drawings.
• Maintain ECR and ECN systems
• Help create setup sheets and work instructions for machining, assembly, and test.
• Create repeatability in manufacturing processes.
• Work to Engineering department standards.
• Read and understand GD&T requirements on engineering drawings
• Engage in optimization and continuous improvement efforts on new and current processes
• Prepare comprehensive and accurate reports.
• Work with Estimating and Production to reduce cost and lead time.
• Support Production and Quality in meeting manufacturing timelines.
• Participate in MRB part disposition.
• Participate in strategic planning for company capability and capacity growth.
• Physical effort, lifting or pushing up to 50lbs is required.
• Other duties as responsibilities necessitate.

Physical & Mental:

General: Position requires ability to concentrate on details with occasional interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time. Ability to understand theories behind related concepts and remember multiple tasks given to self and others over time; ability to prioritize shifting priorities; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Environmental & Working Conditions:

Industrial shop setting. Dust, dirt, and metal debris from manufacturing will be encountered. Moderate noise levels will be encountered.
