Job summary

Taghleef Industries, Inc. is seeking a Technical Engineer to maintain and monitor North American packaging designs and specifications for finished products and WIP.

You will lead quality assurance of the supply chain, coordinate with suppliers, plants, logistics, and customers to ensure packaging standards are met. You will act as a liaison between Taghleef plants globally and internal teams, drive continuous improvements, and support audits and certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering/packaging/operations/supply chain management.
• Associates degree accepted with 5+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, record and implement all packaging put-up requirements for North American products.
• Work closely with procurement on sourcing of economical materials for pallet/put-up construction.
• Collaborate with plants and external providers to ensure proper implementation and integrity of packaging designs, including training.
• Support internal and external audit teams to ensure high standards of compliance for quality, food safety, safety, environmental, sustainability, customer, and certification audits.
• Coordinate with sales and customer service to meet packaging design/trial needs on time and within budget.
• Maintain database for packaging supplier and carrier corrective actions and preventive measures, including imported products.
• Oversee packaging material inventory levels and finished goods inventory quality.
• Maintain SAP/OV COSRs where packaging wrap codes and references are involved.
• Drive improvements in packaging design to improve quality, reduce damage claims, and cost savings.
• Stay current with packaging trends and enhancement opportunities, including equipment.
• Perform other duties as needed by the Purchasing Manager.
• Assist with specifications needed for price negotiations.
• Survey and audit critical packaging suppliers in consultation with Purchasing Manager

Technical Engineer

The Technical Engineer is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the packaging designs and specifications for all finished products and WIP in North America, as well as managing quality assurance of the supply chain including the suppliers of materials and services and the storage and shipping of finished product to ensure customer requirements have been met.

Secondary duties include performing as a lead for quality, supplier trials, customer trials and certification audits, and being the lead investigator for supply chain claims and damages and the associated corrective action development and implementation. There is involvement with logistics personnel, purchasing personnel, customers, and heavy interaction with the plant personnel as well. The Technical Engineer will be required to act as liaison between the Taghleef plants globally, suppliers, logistics, sales, and customers.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, packaging, operations, or supply chain management
• Associates degree acceptable with 5 years’ experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Capability to work independently and drive continuous improvements
• Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCad, Excel and Access
• Additional Industry Certifications are Beneficial
• Some travel may be required, up to 20%

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments, including regular time on the production floor.
• May be exposed to noise, heat, moving equipment, machinery, chemicals, and other conditions typical of a continuous manufacturing operation.
• Must follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment while in designated areas.
• Must complete all required safety training, including site-specific, job-specific, equipment-related, and refresher training, and apply safe work practices when working on or around plant equipment.
• May require standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, reaching, and accessing equipment areas to troubleshoot or observe operating conditions.
• Must be able to support urgent equipment issues, projects, shutdowns, or commissioning activities outside of normal business hours as needed in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
