Job summary

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Draftsman to support engineering and technical teams by preparing, revising, and maintaining accurate drawings, schematics, and layouts. You will translate technical concepts into clear draft products for design and operation, coordinating with engineers and field personnel to incorporate changes.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in drafting, design technology, engineering support, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in drafting or related technical roles.
• Experience preparing technical drawings and documentation in a professional environment.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MicroStation or DraftSight.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage revisions and deadlines.
• Ability to interpret engineering notes, requirements, and operating concepts.
• Working knowledge of document control and configuration management practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, update, and maintain technical drawings, layouts, diagrams, and supporting design documentation.
• Convert engineer, technician, and program inputs into clear draft products and controlled documentation.
• Review sketches, specifications, markups, and reference material to ensure drawing accuracy and completeness.
• Support configuration control and revision tracking for technical documents.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field personnel to incorporate design changes and feedback.
• Ensure drawings comply with drafting standards, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures.
• Assist with development of presentation-quality technical visuals for reviews and customer deliverables.
• Maintain organized digital files, drawing archives, and documentation repositories.
• Document layouts, scenarios, or equipment configurations for technical planning.
• Participate in design reviews and provide drafting updates based on review comments.

• Working knowledge of document control and configuration management practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional technical team environment.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $90,000.00/Yr. - USD $120,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
