Job summary

Sierra Space is seeking a Chief Engineer to provide technical leadership across major programs, maintaining the technical baseline and guiding design, development and testing of systems. You will chair reviews, adjudicate gaps, and drive root‑cause actions while coordinating with IPT leads and senior management.

Your role requires multidisciplinary engineering expertise, strong decision‑making, and the ability to translate strategy into executable plans that ensure mission success and adherence

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience and 16+ years in engineering.
• Subject matter expert for a major program with significant project leadership.
• Experience leading cross‑functional decisions and applying first principles.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and accountability for values.
• Active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. security clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to major programs and maintain the technical baseline.
• Chair Engineering Review Boards and Failure Review Boards; drive root‑cause actions.
• Oversee design, development, testing of systems and components; guide complex problems.
• Translate strategies into executable plans and approve technical decisions.
• Collaborate with executive management and drive innovation across programs.
