Primary Role

As a Technical Director, you will be responsible for all aspects of your assigned projects, including technical, logistical, staffing, and more, to ensure the highest quality experience for clients and attendees. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to create both physical and virtual experiences. Your role involves overseeing systems and procedures from concept to completion, ensuring no detail is overlooked, providing value to clients, and maximizing project profitability. The ideal candidate must be skilled in Vectorworks, possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and be capable of mentoring less experienced project management team members.

Our operations are based in Illinois and Ohio. We are open to in-person, hybrid, or remote work arrangements for a highly skilled Technical Director/Project Manager in Corporate Live Events.

Primary Responsibilities

• Evaluate project scope with the Account Executive
• Create technical and spatial drawings using Vectorworks
• Compile technical information for budgets and pull sheets
• Travel to project sites to oversee elements and coordinate with client planning teams
• Conduct venue site surveys to ensure logistics meet client needs
• Coordinate with technicians and ensure all technical elements are covered
• Work with Operations to verify equipment accuracy and manage substitutions
• Procure rentals from outside vendors as needed
• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with safety regulations
• Distribute show information to all involved parties
• Organize and lead pre/post-production meetings
• Promote a positive company image and support staff and company vision
• Mentor new and less experienced project managers

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Technical Director and/or Project Manager in corporate live events
• Proficiency in Vectorworks drafting for live events
• Knowledge of live event technical systems (audio, video, lighting)
• Excellent communication, organizational, mentoring, and team-building skills
• Willingness to travel to event locations
