Job summary

Cps4jobs is seeking a Technical Director for Industrial Coatings in the United States. The role focuses on leading formulation work for acrylic and alkyd coatings, developing customer-specific formulations, and supporting new product development.

The position requires strong experience in waterborne/solventborne coatings and direct-to-metal applications, plus supervision of a small team and collaboration across QA and chemistry groups.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of acrylic and/or alkyd coatings experience.
• Waterborne and solventborne coatings experience.
• Direct-to-metal/direct-to-steel coatings preferred.
• Customer-specific formulation experience.
• Experience with raw-material substitutions and replacements.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve existing acrylic and alkyd formulations.
• Develop customer-specific formulations and reformulations.
• Support development of new product lines and technologies.
• Troubleshoot customer coating issues.
• Travel to customer sites for technical support, including occasional last-minute trips.
• Research and implement raw-material replacements.
• Troubleshoot production and quality issues.
• Manage 3–4 active projects at a time.
• Conduct bench formulations and laboratory testing.
• Perform hardness and salt-spray testing.
• Improve and optimize existing product formulations.
• Provide technical assistance to customers and internal teams.
• Work with Technical Director, Senior Chemist, and QC Director.
• Maintain technical documentation and ERP-related information.
• Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement.
• Manage 3 other individuals on projects.
