Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Technical Director in Controllership to develop accounting policies, practices and standards meeting regulatory and management requirements. You will provide accounting consultation to leadership and internal customers and may liaise with external peer/industry groups and auditors.

Role emphasizes collaboration with external auditors and governance, with opportunities to lead special projects and implement new accounting changes within a large financial services

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in accounting or finance.
• Post graduate level studies desirable.
• CPA designation is desired.

Responsibilities

• Directs technical accounting research for preparation and filing of financial statements and exhibits.
• Performs assessment, education and implementation of new GAAP and STAT accounting changes.
• Interacts with various finance functions as a representative of AP&R group and connects with peers in industry groups.
• Works with external auditors to ensure accounting compliance with regulators and GAAP/SEC requirements where applicable.
• Provides advice on accounting policies and practices and responds to inquiries from regulators and auditors.
• Manages special projects/assignments as advised by senior management.
• Represents officer/executive as assigned and may attend trade association meetings.
• Provides regular updates to staff within the company.
