Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a key individual with a background in environmental compliance, specifically waste permitting and compliance, who is commercially astute and comfortable engaging at all levels within a client organization. As a Technical Director, Environmental Permitting Lead, you will lead projects, drive business development initiatives, and provide internal technical expertise to GHD teams. This role can be based in any of our Southeast offices, with preferred locations including Tampa, Orlando, or Miami, and offers flexibility for remote work.

This role involves:

• Collaborating with leaders to develop and execute strategies to expand EHS Compliance across the US
• Building and mentoring a US-wide team committed to high-quality results
• Maintaining a high external profile through industry involvement and networking
• Enhancing internal profile via project success, technical leadership, and pursuit of new opportunities
• Leading proposal development and contract negotiations
• Managing technical projects, ensuring client satisfaction, and delivering safely within scope, schedule, and budget
• Serving as an environmental relationship manager for key clients

Qualifications:

• B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
• 25+ years of compliance experience, focusing on waste regulations such as RCRA, DOT, TSCA, NORM, etc.
• Knowledge of regulatory waste requirements across multiple states
• Experience leading multi-media and RCRA audits
• Excellent technical writing skills
• Recognized as a technical leader in EHS and RCRA compliance
• Skilled in data analysis and interpretation in line with environmental standards
• Effective communication skills with technical professionals, clients, and regulators
• Experience with air and other media permitting is a plus
• Proven ability to manage and deliver RCRA compliance projects
• Ability to develop strategic technical and regulatory solutions
• Willingness to travel
