Job summary

Black & White Engineering, a multi‑award‑winning engineering consultancy, seeks a Technical Director – Civil & Structural to lead NA regional C&S for data center projects. Based in Tampa, you will build a new regional team and set the technical direction across designs, specifications and documents.

You will own project outcomes, manage client relationships, and partner with global offices to share resources, while traveling domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• PE license is required.
• Experience leading civil or structural engineering teams.
• Experience leading complex civil/structural design and specification, data center/mission-critical preferred.
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural design and codes/standards (OSHA).

Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid) | Department: Civil & Structural Engineering | Job Type: Full-time, Exempt | Reports to: Global C&S Director

As Technical Director – Civil & Structural, you’ll be the North America regional lead for the C&S discipline, reporting to the global C&S Director. Based in our Tampa office, you’ll build and lead a new regional team delivering civil and structural engineering for complex data center and mission-critical projects.

You’ll be involved through every stage of design, from concept through specifications and contract documents, while strengthening client relationships and taking ownership of commercial outcomes. You’ll work closely with colleagues across our global offices, sharing resources and knowledge.

You’ll set the technical direction for the C&S team and own engineering quality across designs, drawings, specifications, and contract documents, with sustainability and safety considered throughout.

Build and develop a team

Global collaboration and influence

You’ll work closely with the global C&S discipline, aligning with company direction, systems, and processes, with domestic and international travel as projects require.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Prior experience leading civil or structural engineering teams.
• Experience leading complex civil and structural design and specification for a range of building types; data center or mission‑critical experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of civil and structural engineering through all stages of design, including structural analysis and design using current tools and software.
• Working knowledge of applicable U.S. codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and key health and safety requirements.
• Experience undertaking existing‑structure surveys and condition assessments.
• A team builder who supports others through training and mentoring.
• Ability to travel to project sites and to offices domestically and internationally.
• Authorization to work in the U.S.; this position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
