About the Role
A leading digital consultancy is seeking a Technical Director to provide senior technical leadership across a large-scale enterprise AI transformation project. This position is focused on executive-level technical oversight rather than hands-on development. The successful candidate will guide multiple concurrent AI workstreams, advise senior client stakeholders, and ensure solutions align with business objectives, technical best practices, and long-term scalability requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and delivery oversight across multiple AI and agentic AI workstreams.
- Review architecture, designs, and technical approaches to ensure solutions align with business outcomes and programme objectives.
- Serve as the primary technical advisor to senior client stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Identify delivery risks, architectural gaps, dependencies, and potential blockers before they impact programme success.
- Establish standards for agentic AI systems, including orchestration, RAG, tool calling, evaluation frameworks, observability, security, and governance.
- Influence and align internal teams, third-party vendors, and strategic partners without direct management authority.
- Mentor technical leads and drive consistency, quality, and engineering excellence across large-scale programmes.
Must Have Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in engineering, AI, data, or technology leadership, with progression from hands-on engineering into senior programme or technical leadership roles.
- Experience overseeing large, multi-team technology programmes involving numerous stakeholders, vendors, and delivery teams.
- Strong architectural expertise with experience evaluating complex distributed systems, cloud platforms, AI solutions, and enterprise-scale implementations.
- Recent experience with Agentic AI, LLM ecosystems, multi-agent systems, RAG architectures, AI evaluation frameworks, and enterprise AI delivery.
- Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-native AI services, including Amazon Bedrock or similar GenAI platforms.
- Experience working within highly regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, insurance, education, or life sciences.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
