Job summary

Commando LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Designer to support the technical development of garments from concept through pre-production approval. You will work across Design, Product Development, Supply Chain, Quality, and manufacturing partners to ensure fit, construction, quality, functionality, and manufacturability.

The ideal candidate has strong patternmaking and garment construction knowledge and is comfortable moving across product categories in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Patternmaking, Apparel Development, or a related field preferred.
• 3–5 years of technical design, patternmaking, or apparel development experience in performance knitwear preferred.
• Strong knowledge of patternmaking, grading, garment construction, fit evaluation, and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform 2D and 3D pattern drafting, pattern revisions, and pattern grading for assigned product categories.
• Evaluate garment construction, measurements, and functionality to support design and performance intent.
• Create Tech Packs, Specifications, and Fit Comments in PLM for in house and offshore style developments.
• Partner with Design and Product Development on construction, material selection, silhouette development, style function, and technical solutions.
• Collaborate with vendors and manufacturing partners to troubleshoot technical issues and support successful production.
• Support the evaluation and implementation of new tools and technologies that improve technical design and product development processes.
• Maintain technical fit standards, fit model information, and fitting protocols to help ensure consistency across product categories.
• Utilize CLO3D, Optitex, and other digital product creation tools to support visualization, pattern development, and product accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to improve technical development processes and workflows.
• Create technical construction sketches of new styles in Adobe Illustrator and maintain premarket line sheets.

This role works closely with Design, Product Development, Supply Chain, Quality, and manufacturing partners to help ensure products meet Commando’s standards for fit, construction, quality, functionality, and manufacturability.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of garment construction, fit, patternmaking, and technical development and is comfortable working across multiple product categories in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range: $30 - $35/hr

Key Responsibilities:

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM software; Optitex and CLO3D experience preferred.
• Experience with PLM systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams.
• Experience in intimates, activewear, seamless, hosiery, or swimwear is a plus.
