Job summary

Alp N Rock seeks a Technical Designer to oversee the technical development of apparel from concept through production, ensuring fit, construction, and quality align with premium standards. You will create and update tech packs, measure and fit samples, and relay detailed construction comments to factories, collaborating with design and production teams to resolve issues.

This full-time hybrid role is based in San Marcos, CA, with on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility as you review

Qualifications

• Creating tech packs, spec sheets, and fit comments for apparel products.
• Garment construction and fitting to ensure premium fit and quality.
• Pattern making to interpret, adjust, and troubleshoot patterns and grading.
• Architecture-related skills such as spatial thinking and attention to detail to support precise technical design.
• Experience with design and pattern software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD tools) and knowledge of sustainable materials.
• Strong communication with vendors and cross-functional teams.
• Degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Role Description

The Technical Designer will oversee the technical development of apparel styles from concept through production, ensuring fit, construction, and quality align with Alp N Rock’s premium standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating and updating technical packages, measuring and fitting samples, communicating detailed construction comments to factories, and collaborating with design and production teams to resolve fit and quality issues. The role also involves reviewing patterns, specs, and grading, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting continuous improvement in product consistency and sustainability. This is a full-time hybrid role based in San Marcos, CA, with a combination of on-site work and some work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Technical Design skills, including creating tech packs, spec sheets, and fit comments for apparel products.
• Candidates should possess solid Garment Construction and Fitting skills to evaluate samples, identify issues, and ensure premium fit and quality standards.
• Candidates should possess Pattern Making skills to interpret, adjust, and troubleshoot patterns and grading for complex garments.
• Candidates should possess Architecture-related skills such as spatial thinking, structural understanding, and an eye for detail that support precise technical design work.
• Relevant skills and qualifications include proficiency with design and pattern software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CAD tools), strong measurement and math skills, and familiarity with sustainable materials and production practices.
• Additional beneficial qualifications include experience in sport or luxury fashion, excellent communication with vendors and cross-functional teams, strong organizational abilities, and a track record of managing multiple styles and deadlines.
• A relevant degree or diploma in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience, is preferred.
