Role Description

The Associate Technical Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area. This role supports the technical design process from concept to production, including preparing detailed tech packs, updating specifications, and maintaining measurement and construction standards across multiple product categories. Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering with design and product development teams, assisting & participating in fittings, recording fit comments, and ensuring garments meet brand standards for quality, fit, and functionality. The Associate Technical Designer will collaborate closely with pattern makers, factories, and vendors to resolve construction issues, track sample development, and support on-time delivery. This role also involves reviewing prototypes and production samples, providing clear technical feedback, and contributing to continuous improvement of processes and documentation.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in Technical Design and Garment Construction, with a focus on performance and lifestyle apparel.
  • Experience with Fitting and Pattern Making, including conducting fit sessions and translating feedback into technical updates.
  • Ability to apply structural and design thinking, including basic Architecture-related concepts such as proportion and form, to apparel construction.
  • Proficiency with technical design tools (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, PLM systems, Excel) and digital spec/measurement tracking.
  • Knowledge of fabric behavior, trims, and manufacturing processes, particularly in athletic and streetwear categories.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple styles and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
  • Relevant education in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or a related field; comparable industry experience considered.
  • Prior experience in technical design or product development for apparel brands is preferred.
  • English proficiency required; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to visit vendors and suppliers as needed.
  • Must be Los Angeles-based and able to work a hybrid schedule from the company’s Torrance, CA headquarters 3 days per week.
