Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. in Midtown Manhattan is hiring a Senior Technical Designer to join the on-site team.

You will lead fit sessions, develop tech packs, and ensure pre-production samples meet quality and fit standards for multiple categories including juniors, missy, plus and men’s wear. The role requires 6+ years in apparel technical design, strong sewing, patternmaking and fabric knowledge, and proficiency with PLM and Excel.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in Apparel Technical Design.
• Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design.
• Knowledge of sewing construction, patternmaking, garment manufacturing, and fabrics.
• Proficient in PLM and Excel.
• Clo3D experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with multiple product categories within Athleisure division for various sizes.
• Accurately measure Fit/PP/TOP samples.
• Lead fit sessions and take detailed notes.
• Identify and communicate fit/construction issues to factories.
• Create initial tech packs for development, costing and fit samples.
• Ensure corrections at pre-production samples for production readiness.
• Collaborate with private label accounts to achieve fit targets.
• Know grading and issue graded specs.
• Adhere to calendar to meet deadlines.
• Track and manage sample status and keep library organized.
• Build cross-functional relationships with design, merchandising, production, and sales.

Education

Sweet Apparel Inc. is a leader in Junior's, Women's, Men's, and Kids fast fashion apparel. Sweet Apparel designs, manufactures, and imports apparel under its own labels as well as multiple Private labels. Our clothing can be found at major retailers including TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Macy's, and more. The company is growing and looking for a full-time, Technical Designer to join the team on-site at the Midtown Manhattan office.

Responsibilities

• Work with multiple product categories within Athleisure division (tops, pants, shorts, sets, dresses, skirts, activewear, and lounge) for Juniors, Missy, Plus and Men's sizes
• Accurately measure Fit/PP/TOP samples
• Lead fit sessions and take detailed notes
• Responsible for identifying and calling out any fit/construction/workmanship issues to be addressed and communicating all corrections and revisions to factory
• Create initial tech packs for development/costing and fit sample submits
• Ensure all corrections have been made at the pre-production sample stage to perfect the fit/quality for production.
• Work with Private label accounts to achieve desired fit
• Knowledge of grading and ability to issue graded specs
• Ability to adhere to calendar to ensure deadlines are met
• Track and manage sample status
• Log in samples and assist with keeping sample library organized
• Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams including design, merchandising, production, and sales.

Must currently live in the NYC metropolitan area (commutable distance to NYC) to be considered.
