Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. is seeking an Associate Technical Designer to join the Athleisure Development team on-site at our Midtown Manhattan office. The role requires 4+ years in technical design, with deep knowledge of sewing construction, patternmaking, and fabric selection.

You will create tech packs, participate in fittings, ensure calendar adherence, and collaborate with design, merchandising, and production to deliver high-quality garments for Juniors, Missy, Plus, and Children’s lines.

Qualifications

• Degree in Technical Design or Fashion Design.
• 4+ years of experience in Technical Design.
• Knowledge of sewing construction, patternmaking, garment manufacturing, and fabrics.
• Proficient in PLM and Excel.
• Knowledge of Clo3D is helpful.
• Attention to detail, sense of urgency, willingness to learn, team-player.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across product categories within the Athleisure division (tops, skorts, shorts/pants, dresses, sweaters, sets, activewear & lounge) for Juniors, Missy, Plus, and Children’s.
• Attend hand-off meetings with the Design team.
• Accurately measure Inspiration/Reference samples and advise construction call-outs.
• Adjust fit or design details to meet target customer needs.
• Attend development fittings and take detailed notes.
• Create initial tech packs for new Development/Showroom samples/costing.
• Understand grading.
• Adhere to calendar to ensure deadlines.
• Track and manage sample status.
• Keep sample library/showroom organized.
• Build collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams including design, merchandising, production, and sales.

Sweet Apparel designs, manufactures, and imports apparel under its own labels as well as multiple Private labels. Our clothing can be found at major retailers including TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Macy's, and more.
