Job summary

Sweet Apparel Inc. in Midtown Manhattan is seeking an Assistant/Associate Technical Designer to support apparel development across multiple product categories, from juniors to men’s and women’s lines.

This on-site role partners with the Technical Design Lead to review fit samples, update tech packs and measurement charts, and ensure all revisions and specifications are accurately communicated to overseas offices and factories.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Technical Design preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Technical Design; sweaters experience a plus.
  • Understanding of garment construction, fit, grading, and patternmaking principles.
  • Experience with technical packages, measurement specifications, and fit samples.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Technical Design Lead in reviewing fit samples and implementing pattern corrections throughout all stages of development.
  • Assist with measuring garments and verifying specifications against approved standards.
  • Update and maintain technical packages, measurement charts, and fit comments to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Apply Technical Design feedback to patterns and technical documentation, ensuring all revisions are clearly communicated.
  • Coordinate with overseas offices and factory partners to support timely execution of fit and pattern updates.
  • Track sample status, fit approvals, and development milestones to help ensure adherence to production calendars.
  • Review graded specifications and measurements for accuracy and consistency.
  • Maintain organized records of fit comments, approvals, pattern revisions, and technical files.
  • Assist in ensuring products meet brand standards, retailer requirements, quality expectations, and production feasibility.
  • Support special projects and additional technical design initiatives as needed.

Teams collaborate closely across design, production, and operations to bring fashion-forward products to market efficiently.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Assistant / Associate Technical Designer to support apparel development across multiple product categories!

Please note: this is an on-site position in Midtown Manhattan where we work in office 5 days/week!

Key Responsibilities

Target compensation for this role starts at $60k/yr dependent on experience
