We’re Hiring: Technical Designers – Women’s & Childrenswear (various levels)
Role
We are seeking skilled Technical Designers at multiple experience levels to support women’s woven apparel, dresses, sportswear, outerwear, activewear, and childrenswear. This is one application covering both senior-level and assistant-level opportunities.
These roles are highly technical and hands-on, with a strong focus on garment fit, pattern corrections, construction, grading, production-ready tech packs, and factory communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain detailed, production-ready technical packages, including garment sketches, points of measurement, graded specifications, construction details, fit comments, and diagrams
- Develop and manage BOMs, packaging requirements, care and content labels, carton markings, UPC information, and fold and hanger-pack instructions
- Participate in live-model fittings from initial sample through production approval
- Measure garments, document fitting notes, analyze fit issues, and provide precise corrections to achieve the intended fit, silhouette, and function
- Communicate pattern, grading, construction, and workmanship corrections clearly to overseas offices, vendors, and factories
- Review prototypes, fit samples, pre-production samples, and garment patterns for accuracy and production readiness
- Apply strong knowledge of patternmaking, sewing, fabrics, trims, garment engineering, and factory processes
- Identify construction and manufacturing challenges and recommend practical solutions that support quality, cost, design intent, and manufacturability
- Maintain consistent fit, construction, quality, comfort, durability, and brand standards across factories
- Partner closely with Design, Product Development, Production, patternmakers, agents, vendors, and overseas teams
- Track sample approvals and support adherence to the Time and Action Calendar
- Maintain accurate technical documentation throughout the product lifecycle

Qualifications
Senior Technical Designer candidates should have:
- Strong experience in women’s apparel, particularly wovens, dresses, sportswear, outerwear, and/or activewear
- Advanced knowledge of fit, garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and production processes
- Proven ability to create accurate, comprehensive technical packages
- Confidence providing factories with specific pattern and construction corrections
- The ability to independently manage fittings, priorities, and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Assistant Technical Designer candidates should have:
- Foundational technical-design experience, preferably in childrenswear or apparel
- Experience supporting fittings, measuring garments, taking detailed notes, and updating fit comments
- Familiarity with tech packs, garment patterns, grading, construction, and sample approvals
- The ability to follow technical direction while developing independent problem-solving skills
- Strong accuracy, organization, follow-through, and communication skills
A bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design or equivalent is required
Work Schedule
These positions are based in New York City and require regular in-office attendance.
Senior women’s wovens opportunities require five days per week in the office. Some assistant-level opportunities may offer work-from-home flexibility on Fridays.
