Job summary

JCPenney is seeking a Technical Designer Manager to lead the team in achieving fit accuracy, pattern development, and construction standards across multiple brands. You will mentor staff, manage workload, and collaborate with Design and Product Development to ensure consistent quality.

The role emphasizes hands‑on guidance when needed, strong communication, and the ability to work across cross‑functional teams to meet deadlines and production timelines.

• Strong knowledge of patterns, fit, grading, and construction standards.

• Demonstrates confidence and assertiveness in fit presentation.
• Ability to self‑manage, work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a cross‑functional team environment.
• Proactive problem solving and resolution orientation.
• Proficiency in Flex PLM, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Web PDM, Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Mentors team on fit evaluation, balance and proportion of fit.
• Delivers timely, direct, and actionable feedback; delegates but can be hands‑on when needed.
• Manage workflow and evolving business needs; anticipate consequences and adjust plans.
• Create, update and utilize pattern blocks to ensure standards are met.
• Collaborate with Design and Product Development teams to determine fit and aesthetics.
• Maintain fit and construction standards to ensure brand consistency and quality.
• Resolve and communicate fit and construction issues to IBOs and factories within timelines.
• Daily communication and follow through with IBO, vendors, and cross‑functional partners.
• Enhance fit and quality through review of customer comments, competitive analysis, and fit symposiums.
